The symbol of the Promenade

With its pink roof, cupola and façades combining neo-classical and Baroque ornamentation, the 5* Negresco is instantly recognisable to any tourist strolling along the Promenade des Anglais. Although its facades, roofs, royal salon and glass roof are listed historic monuments, they are only the tip of the Negresco iceberg.

A truly exceptional place, it was awarded the " Patrimoine XXème siècle" label in 2001. The corridors of the Negresco's five floors, like the rest of the building, are veritable art galleries, each with its own theme: Art Deco, Napoleon 1st, Dali... The only thing the five floors have in common is the carpet, created by the artist Jean-Pierre Yvaral. The mix of old and contemporary works creates a somewhat baroque atmosphere.

📍 Address: 37 Promenade des Anglais, Nice

A century-old building

The Negresco was built in the 1910s, under the impetus of Henri Negresco. Inaugurated with great fanfare on 4 January 1913, with no fewer than seven crowned heads in attendance, the palace is admired by all. And with good reason! The glass roof is by Edouard-Jean Niermans (and not Eiffel, as many people think), the elliptical Louis XVI-style lobby is grandiose, the bedroom furniture is the work of Paul Dumas and the rotunda shines with luminosity.

At the end of the 1950s, Le Negresco became the property of Jeanne and Paul Augier, who turned it into a veritable hotel-museum by purchasing almost 6,000 works of art and objets d'art. The sculpture by Niki de Saint Phalle that stands outside the hotel, portraits of kings such as Louis XIV, Louis XV, Louis XVI and Napoleon III, busts and the lift upholstered in red in the image of the King of Rome's cradle are all part of the collection. In short, the monument is a showcase for five centuries of French art history.

Sleeping at the Negresco

The 102 rooms and 26 suites of this exceptional hotel blend the contemporary with the old, as throughout the building. Exceptionally well-crafted period furniture sits alongside the most modern equipment in spaces whose decoration is inspired by five centuries of French art, from the Louis XIII style to modern art.

The superior rooms, with their classic decor, recreate the interior of a fine French residence. With a view of the hotel's interior facade, they offer 25 m² of peace and quiet, even if the space is only well lit in the afternoon.

The exclusive rooms are the embodiment of the "Negresco spirit", with period furniture and Louis XIV or Marie-Antoinette style decor for a classic or baroque setting. The 30m² rooms are enhanced by views over the Parc Masséna, with the sea and the Baie des Anges as a backdrop.

The deluxe sea-view rooms have a surface area of around 30 m² and... a sea view. Silk or velvet, with an impression of 'bonbonnières' or the quintessence of'French good taste', these rooms leave no one indifferent.

In terms of suites, Le Negresco boasts fully-equipped junior suites and luxury suites with a wealth of unique furnishings.

Culinary excellence

The best table in Nice is set in Le Negresco, at the Le Chantecler restaurant. This flagship of French gastronomy, run by chef Jean-Denis Rieubland, Meilleur Ouvrier de France, has been awarded two stars in the Michelin Guide. The menu offers dishes "inspired by Provence, with respect for products and traditions". The restaurant also boasts a cellar containing 15,000 exceptional bottles.

The more affordable Brasserie La Rotonde, with its festival of colours and surprises and carousel décor, transports customers into a world of chic and unexpected funfairs. For a glass of wine or a cocktail, the intimate Le Relais bar offers travellers a cosy atmosphere in a space that's perfect for relaxation.
