From hikes to music festivals, Corsica’s got it all!

If you are a hiking enthusiast like myself, you may have heard about the GR20 that stretches from the Northern (Calenzana) to the Southern (Conca) points of the island for about 200 kilometres, with a ranging altitude of over 2 000 metres. This trek can be done in approximately 16 days, but may be shortened or lengthened according to the level of hikers. It is known to be rather difficult due to its varying terrains and temperatures, but well worth the effort when you get views like these:

Now, if you’re more into the music scene, we’ve got a great range of annual festivals that you can choose from.

Organised in a natural outdoor setting, the Erbalunga Music Festival blesses the week-end of the 11th to the 13th of August 2024 with an enchanting musical ambiance, ideal for those visiting the charming northern coast or for families spending their regular holidays by the buzzing city of Bastia.

For all those jazz fans out there, expect the summer months of June and July along the Ajaccio coast to be whistling with soothing melodies. Expect your soon-to-be memorable  summer destination to whisk you away with its cool sea breeze and entertaining evenings at the Jazz in Aiacciu festival (specific program to be announced soon)!

More in the mood for some youthful energy and a colourful light show? Head over to the scenic north western front of Calvi and become the perfect candidate to participate in Corsica’s world renowned Calvi On The Rocks music festival (typically hosted during the hot summer months of June and July)! Large crowds, world class DJ sets and memorable evenings on the seafront under the twinkling stars amongst much more are to be expected.

Finally, for those history buffs still reminiscing over the Napoleon (2023) film, you would know that a visit to Ajaccio is a must-do to uncover more about the original home of the world renowned Corsican conqueror. If you are interested in participating in guided tours, have a quick look here.

Otherwise known as the birthplace of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, the Corsican capital, Ajaccio, is the most visited coastal city in all of Corsica, not only thanks to its accessibility to the metropole (and other major cities), but for its overall charm and cultural richness. You can find just about everything you may need for a holiday - from countless museums, to fine cuisine, enchanting walking guides or picturesque beaches to guilty-free lounge on: one thing’s for sure, you won't be bored!

Located in the northeastern part of Corsica, Bastia is an exceptionally beautiful coastal city facing Italy and is most renowned for its twin-towered Church, Saint Jean-Baptiste that reigns proud over the whole city. It isn’t the second most populated city on the island for nothing, as its beautiful old town and football teams hold prime roles in its culture.

Located on the southeastern coast of Corsica, Porto-Vecchio is probably the most renowned for its surrounding lagoon-like beaches. But when it comes to the 16th century port city itself, it is the third most populated city in Corsica that was interestingly built on top of salt marshes, making salt a key economic source of the city.
