The starting point for the GR21, Le Tréport is a pretty village with narrow, colourful houses. It is famous for housing the Kahl-Bürg bunker dug by the Germans during the Second World War. But its real highlight is the funicular railway that takes you up to the upper town. From up there, the panorama is breathtaking: in a magnificent tableau, the houses stretch from visitors' feet to the beach below and the cliffs are lost in the horizon.
Winding its way along the Côte d'Albâtre for 190 kilometres overhanging the sea, the GR21 was voted France's favourite GR in 2020. Also known as the "cliff path", it hugs the Normandy coastline and passes through port towns, white pebble beaches and sheep meadows. It also includes a number of unmissable stages along the Normandy coast. Want to admire exceptional panoramas, discover a rich heritage and take a deep breath of fresh air? Answer the call of the sea without leaving the mainland, thanks to the various stages of the cliff path, which can be completed in around 9 days.

The first day's walk gets off to a leisurely start, with just 10 kilometres separating Le Tréport from Criel-sur-Mer, the first stage of the cliff path. This short walk then gives walkers time to wander through the village, past Belle Epoque villas and traditional half-timbered houses, or to cool off on one of the two pebble beaches lined with colourful cabins.

The second day is much longer, with 30 kilometres of walking ahead. This section of the GR21 is quite rugged, crossing Gallic fortifications before reaching Dieppe. The history of the town, which was in turn a herring fishing port, a banana port and then France's leading port for scallops, is closely linked to the sea. You also can't miss its castle, perched atop a cliff.

The day finishes in Quiberville-sur-Mer, a small, quiet and authentic seaside resort, ideal for restoring your strength after walking for hours on the cliffs of Normandy.

The fourth day is a fairly leisurely one, as we only have to drive 15 kilometres along the English Channel to reach Veules-les-Roses, a "Most Beautiful Village in France" between the sea and the countryside. You'll enjoy strolling through the narrow streets between the half-timbered houses or along the banks of the Veule, the smallest river in the country, accompanied by the water singing in the wheels of the mills.

On this fifth stage, the walkers will cover 21 kilometres, much of it across fields, to reach Veulettes-sur-Mer. This small seaside resort, nicknamed "the pearl of the Pays de Caux", is surrounded by chalk cliffs. Its 1,200-metre beach, strewn with white pebbles shaped by the rolling of the waves, is one of the most pleasant in summer.

This sixth day is a rather challenging stage, with 27 kilometres of magnificent scenery between Veulettes-sur-Mer and Fécamp. The GR21 also passes Cap Fagnet, the highest point on the Côte d'Albâtre, offering exceptional views of the entire coastline. Fécamp, a former mortar port that was ravaged by bombardments, receives little attention despite its wide harbour, two sandstone lighthouses and large pebble beach, all of which give it an undeniable charm.

An emblematic stage of the cliff path, the route offers breathtaking views of the chalk arches sculpted by the sea and the wind. The gradations of white, green and blue create magnificent pictures, even more striking at sunset.

Nicknamed the "Cité Océane", Le Havre marks the official finish line of the GR21. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the town was almost entirely rebuilt after the war and boasts typical 1950s architecture, which can be seen in the pretty streets of the town centre.
