Originally built as Cork’s Custom House in 1724, the building was then institutionalised as the Crawford School of Art (previously the Cork School of Art), being owned by and named after a local family of brewers and merchants in 1885. Today, the building features over 3,000 works of modern art as well as ancient architectural marvels!
When visiting Cork, it’s important to do a bit of cultural shopping. One stop that has to be made is the Crawford Art Gallery, located in the city centre at 1 Emmett Place. In addition to its stunning architecture, the Gallery’s building hosts a variety of art forms and styles dating all the way back to Antiquity. Not convinced yet?
