After 140 years, the Sagrada Familia will soon be finished? Inauguration and completion date unveiled!

More than 140 years after its construction began, the monument remains unfinished. Of the 18 towers designed by the architect Antoni Gaudi, 4 were completed at the end of September 2023. The sculptures above them represent 4 evangelists. A fine achievement that deserves to be celebrated.

To mark the occasion, a mass of blessing will be celebrated on 12 November in honour of these 4 new towers, which mark a major milestone in the construction of the building.

Following this spectacular event, the 4 new towers will be decked out in their festive garb and lit up. Sparkling with a thousand lights until Christmas Day, it's the perfect opportunity to discover the monument in a different way, with a touch of enchantment!

The Sagrada Familia is to Barcelona what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris. It's impossible for tourists not to visit the basilica during a stay in Barcelona. It is so much a part of the city's identity that it is almost impossible to find a postcard of the destination without the Sagrada Familia on it. By the time it is completed, and the last tower (172 metres high) representing Jesus Christ is built, the Sagrada Familia will be the tallest basilica in the world.

Every year, several million visitors flock to admire this extraordinary monument, making it the 6th most visited site in the world.

Despite the progress of the work, you will still have to be patient before you can admire the basilica in its entirety, as it is estimated that the project will be completed in 2026.
