"It's too touristy! 3 walks in Nice that don't involve the Promenade des Anglais.

Renowned for its pebble beaches and turquoise waters, Nice never ceases to shine with its tourist attractions. This is quickly apparent on the Promenade Anglais in summer, when there are crowds of tourists and locals strolling along. And for some who have come here in search of peace and quiet, the trip can prove disappointing! Here are a few things to do in and around Nice to unwind away from the tourists.

The Vinaigrier trail, a breath of fresh air

To the east of Nice, head for the Vinaigrier trail. This breathtaking path runs through the Vinaigrier nature park (hence the name), linking the Col de Villefranche to the Grande Corniche over a distance of 2km. Between sea and mountains, from Mont Alban to Cap d'Antibes, the panorama is breathtaking.

A former "rigole" (a small conduit that allows water to drain away), the path is very well maintained. It's a walk for everyone, and although it's close to the town centre, it's a great way to relax and enjoy the surrounding scenery, away from the hustle and bustle of Nice in the high season.

The Nietzsche trail, for a view of the turquoise waters

Located on the outskirts of Nice, this walk starts in the small village of Eze and heads towards Eze-sur-mer. The start of the route is signposted from the railway station. Take advantage of the walk to visit the charming and picturesque little village before heading off in the direction of Mont Bastide.

This is the ideal walk if you want to feast your eyes (and lungs). It offers breathtaking views of the coast and of Isoletta, the small island with crystal-clear waters between France and Monaco.

The tour of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, in the heart of nature

A small village on the French Riviera just 10 km from Nice, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is a privileged place where lush flora and fauna rub shoulders with the coastline. The trail takes in the limestone cliffs and skirts the coast.

The walk takes you around the peninsula and ends at Passable beach. It's worth taking the time to appreciate the wild character of the coast and this unspoilt nature, and to enjoy the peace and quiet that the walk offers.
