When visiting New York for the first time, it's impossible not to visit some of the city's most iconic landmarks, the ones we see in our favourite films and TV series. Finding yourself in Times Square, strolling along 5th Avenue in Manhattan, enjoying a burger on a bench in Central Park, taking a photo in front of one of the legendary brick buildings with its fire escapes, attending a gospel mass in Harlem or a musical show on Broadway - these are all attractions that seem straight out of a film, but are actually possible!
New York... Even if you haven't been there, you still feel as if you know it. The landscapes and landmarks of America's largest city are seen around the world, thanks to films, TV series and social networking sites. From Brooklyn to Manhattan, via the Bronx and Queens, the Big Apple is full of places that leave a lasting impression. Filmmakers have sublimated it, and Woody Allen made it his muse. A legendary crossing at sunrise
If you're into walking and photography, this is a great idea for a stroll. At sunrise (or sunset), head for the Brooklyn Bridge! The most iconic and oldest bridge in the United States] spans two levels and has access for pedestrians and cyclists, who can stroll for 30 minutes while admiring the scenery. Linking Manhattan and Brooklyn, it crosses the East River over 1,864 metres and offers breathtaking views.
But for the best views (and to thrill your friends on Instagram), we recommend going at sunrise or sunset.
In the morning, from 6.30am, the pink and orange colours of the sky intermingle with the skyscrapers, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty (which can be seen on a clear day) and the reflections of the water in the East River. It's a simply magical moment. As many travellers pointed out,"it was like being in a Woody Allen film"! The director, who has shown his love of New York in his screenplays, has often filmed the Brooklyn Bridge in his feature films. You may well get the feeling that you've seen it before (but not experienced it).
Whether you start from Brooklyn or Manhattan, the scenery is impressive. From the bridge, you can see the skyline in a palette of pink or orange, depending on whether the city is waking up or setting down. It's a unique moment that, when experienced, is almost moving. Rather than being the actor or actress in a feature film, this film set shows just how much we are the heroes of our own lives!
And this moment will remain forever engraved in the memories of all travel enthusiasts!
