The West End production of Hadestown has just confirmed that it would begin its London run at the Lyric Theatre, starting on February 10. The show is a dazzling musical adaptation of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice which continuously stuns and leaves audiences raving about it for weeks on end. Bringing together the classic tales of Orpheus and Eurydice and Hades and Persephone, Hadestown is a stunning, gripping and sometimes dizzying tale of trust, heartbreak, greed, climate change, hope and love, all to a spellbinding score combining folk and jazz music. Originally debuting on Broadway in 2019, the show became an instant sensation, earning 8 Tony awards and becoming the most decorated show of that year.

Now, the new twist on these classic Greek stories comes to London, and the cast and creatives already came together to put on a Launch event in November. That’s when the world was introduced to Dónal Finn as Orpheus, and Grace Hodgett Young as Eurydice. The rest of the cast was also very impressive, with Melanie La Barrie who will play Hermes as an undeniable standout. The production is heralded by many of its original creative team, with Anaïs Mitchell, who wrote the show’s lyrics and score, and Rachel Chavkin as director and developer being involved. What’s interesting about this production is that all cast members get to keep their original accents, bringing something new and different to the makeup of the show.

Tickets are already available to purchase on the official Hadestown UK website, so be sure to secure your spots quickly.
