Not far from the Mexican border, San Diego has got an incredible record of 300 days worth of sunshine a year. It's never too cold or too warm, and it doesn’t have as much fog as San Francisco. And just looking at locals there, you’ll realize a dream weather generates a lot of happiness and general wellbeing. The city's paradisiacal beaches and mild climate make it an ideal spot to relax, and also to go surfing if you are into water sports. Finally, there are several must-see attractions, such as the San Diego Zoo, one of the largest animal parks in the world, and the gigantic water park SeaWorld.
It might not seem obvious now that we’re heading to winter, but there are places on Earth where you won’t ever need an umbrella or warm clothing to get through the season. Of course, we're not just talking about arid deserts, but mostly about tourist resorts, with plenty of hotels and places to take in the sun. So forget about rainy London or snowy Finland, here's our list of destinations where the sun is always shining.
San Diego
Malaga
Capital of the Costa del Sol, Malaga is renowned for its cultural life and beaches. It also happens to be the warmest city in Europe. What could be more pleasant in the middle of December than sitting on a terrace facing the sea and nibbling on tapas or grilled fish while drinking a well deserved Sangria? To admire the most beautiful views, climb to the top of the Castillo de Gibralfaro, where the view is breathtaking overlooking the bullring, the port and the cathedral. And of course, don’t leave Picasso's birthplace without visiting his museum.
Sydney
This isn't cheating, even though it's technically summer in December in Australia. With 340 days of sunshine a year, Australia's most famous city attracts many foreigners who end up settling there. While the summer is hot, the fact that it is by the sea provides a welcome breeze. If you go through a heat wave, don't leave the famous Bondi Beach, or take refuge inside the iconic Opera House with its shell-shaped roof!
Nice
You must know that the most famous part of the city is called the Promenade des Anglais, but rest assured, it doesn’t mean the climate resembles anything close to British. As the gateway to the Côte d'Azur, Nice has sunny days all year round and warm temperatures, even if you can still see the first snow-capped peaks of the Alps in the distance. Go ahead and wander through the medieval streets of the old town, before ending up on the sunny terrace and making the most out of your sunglasses.
