Well here it is, as we’re about to unlock the 5 best European sledding destinations your inner child is dying to try out! Expect breathtaking views, exhilarating experiences, and unforgettable memories. Only one thing left to do: grab a sled and shred!
1. The most scenic sled run: Preda to Bergün (Switzerland)
This Swiss escape is a must do for many reasons. Not only will you be sledding your way for more than 6 kilometres from Preda to Bergün, but the trip to the starting line is equally as enjoyable. Indeed, to access this sweet run, you will have to take the railway train through one of UNESCO’s breathtakingly beautiful protected heritage sites, the Abula Valley. A sight not to be missed! Fret not, as this ride is only 25 minutes before you can start doing what you came here for, sledding your way back down to Bergün! For more information and tips, visit their official website.
2. The longest French toboggan run: Val Thorens, France
Indeed, Val Thorens isn’t only known for its outstanding skiing scene, but it is also home to France’s longest and exciting toboggan (French for sledding) run: 6 kilometres (45 minutes) worth of fun! So not only can you benefit from world class skiing, but also experience an outstanding toboggan run. What else can you ask for? There’s really too much you can miss out on if you don’t book your stay now. For more information on prices and hours, click here.

3. The world’s longest floodlit sled run: Bramberg, Salzburg (Austria)
Now for Europe’s longest floodlit toboggan run located in Bramberg, Austria called the Wildkogel Sledding Arena: 14 kilometres long! You must be wondering how long this ride lasts due to the distance, but given the intensity of the ride at a height of 2100 metres above sea level and its 1300 vertical metres decent, this joyous ride lasts about 30 minutes. Definitely one of the wilder ones mentioned in this article, so make sure you are wrapped up and ready to go!
Now for some clean family fun: Wallberg Mountain. Otherwise known as pure German winter bliss, this location offers a calmer sled ride allowing you to really take in the views at a slower pace that is more suitable for children. However, the fun doesn’t stop there: Wallberg Mountain is also known as the longest natural sled run in all of Germany. No man-made structure, just natural beauty. That’s quite the fact to be proud of! Visit their website for more information.

Last but not least, we have Hunderfossen, or more specifically Lillehammer. We kept this Norwegian delight for last as we believe it to be the most extreme sled ride of them, as it involves bobsledding. Yes, you read that correctly, those intense sledding competitions you’re used to watching on the telly for the Winter Olympics, well you’ve just found your chance to make that childhood dream come true! Prepare to be amazed as you power down this run at a speedy 100kph! Make sure to catch all there is to know on their official website.
