The Churchill Arms, London

In this case, judging the book by its cover is entirely fair because the cheerful outside of this pub is fully indicative of its cosiness on the inside. A neighbourhood favourite, the Churchill Arms is located in Kensington and borders the popular Notting Hill area. Drenched in memorabilia, the pub has been standing since 1750 and was frequented by Winston Churchill’s own grandparents. The space oozes charm and warmth, an ideal spot for a cosy winter break. Plus, they are family and dog friendly, meaning everyone can come enjoy this slice of London history. The pub is open every day, serving food from 12 to 9:30pm and drinks from 11am to 11pm. You can check out their menu on their website.

Lord Crewe Arms, Northumberland

On the higher end of things, there’s the Lord Crewe Arms located in picturesque Northumberland. Offering accommodation as well as food and drinks, the space is welcoming and undeniably charming. This almost non-pub was founded as an abbey in 1165 and overtime became a place for hospitality and lodging. The Crypt Bar is a clear highlight of the place, but you won’t want to miss out on the excellent food served at their restaurant, especially their Sunday lunch. You’ll find the Lord Crewe Arms in the honey-stoned village of Blanchland and you can find out more about dining or lodging with them on their official website.

The Sherborne Arms, The Cotswolds

Located in a picturesque historic town, The Sherborne Arms is run by Tom Noest and Peter Creed, a couple of food lovers. The food is really what stands out here, with an overall focus on simple, local and delicious ingredients to create comforting and qualitative meals everyone can enjoy. The dishes are love letters to British classics that only enhance the pub’s cosy atmosphere. The pub is open everyday for lunch and dinner, you can read more about them and their menu on their website.

The Royal Oak, London

With its homely interior, there’s nowhere better to escape the busy crowds of Columbia Road than the Royal Oak. Another local favourite, this pub screams cosy, from its cool façade (which dates back to 1923!), to the home-like interiors. It’s a great spot for hanging out with friends and meeting new ones, grabbing a pint (or two), and indulging in some well-loved classic pub food (we firmly recommend the home made Scotch Eggs). The pub is open daily from 12pm to 12am, and you can find out more about their services on their website.

The Three Horseshoes, Somerset

Located in the charming village of Batcombe, The Three Horseshoes is set in a 17th century pub and offers an unforgettable food and drink experience. Using locally sourced produce, the team manages to create fresh and interesting takes on beloved British classics, well worth tasting for yourself. The interiors are clean and rustic, bringing out the countryside charm of the place. On top of that, the Three Horseshoes also offers excellent accommodation, if you’re looking to explore Somerset a little. You can dine at the pub daily from 12pm to 11am. To find out more head to their website.

The Beckford Arms, Wiltshire

Another rather high end entry on this list, the Beckford Arms is a true amalgamation of all things nice. Established in 1740, this pub is stylish yet traditional with a touch of rustic elegance. Located at the edge of the stunning Fonthill Estate in Wiltshire, the views are reason enough to want to visit the area. And if you’re looking to do just that, the Beckford Arms also offer accommodation with a series of comfortable and beautifully decorated rooms. Everything from the food to the space is executed to perfection. The pub is open daily from 11am to 11pm and you can find out more about wining and dining on their website
