The Villa Strassburger in Deauville

Formerly known as the Villa Rotschild, the Villa Strassburger is now a museum. This fabulous building was constructed in 1907 near the Touques racecourse. It stands on a former farm belonging to Gustave Flaubert's family. The Norman regional character of the villa is reinforced by the landscaping of the grounds around the residence. A vast garden planted with numerous apple trees covers almost two hectares. The base of the villa is topped by a ground floor of brick and stone laid out in a chequered pattern. A timber-framed upper storey completes this part of the house. As an added bonus, a large awning runs along almost all the facades of the house, so take your time to observe the smallest details of this exceptional residence. This remarkable building has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1975. Admission is charged, but children under 12 are free. Booking is essential to visit the Villa.
