Whether in summer or winter, this lake, at an altitude of 1,495 metres, was formed by a landslide. All year round, countless visitors flock to the site to discover this emerald-blue lake and its lush natural landscape. What's the lake's special feature? You can hire beautiful wooden boats to take you around the lake, a timeless experience that's a must at least once in your life.

Visiting Lac de Braies: must-do activities

Walk around the lake

Allow a good hour to walk around the lake. A path has been laid out so you can walk around the lake in complete peace and quiet. For your information, this path is perfectly suitable for pushchairs and people with reduced mobility.

We recommend that you take a picnic with you, so that you can have something to eat while enjoying the view over Lac de Braies. During your walk, if you feel like it, you can follow the signs to the top of Croda del becco, where a magnificent panorama of the lake awaits you!

Hire a boat and cruise the lake

The famous wooden boats that you've no doubt seen a thousand times on Instagram, but that we just can't get enough of! Start at 10am for a half-hour trip around the heart of the lake. It's a unique experience and well worth the diversions, despite the rather high prices.

🚌 Getting there: the lake is located in the braies valley in the Tre cimes region 90 kilometres from Bolzano. You can reach it by car or bus by taking line 442 from Ferrara! You can park for €10 for 90 minutes in one of the nearby car parks.

☀️ Best time of year: we recommend summer or autumn, when the lake reveals its full potential with emerald-coloured water. For greater peace and quiet, go as early as possible, around 6 or 7 in the morning.
