The first Michelin French hotel awards have been unveiled: here are the 24 that have been awarded 3 keys, the equivalent of an "extraordinary stay".

After devoting itself to French gastronomy for almost a century, the Michelin Guide is now broadening its scope to include hotels. But this time, it's not stars that are being awarded, but Keys! This recognition illustrates the Michelin Guide's commitment to promoting excellence in the French hotel industry, just as it has done for decades in the world of gastronomy.

Its first list of winners has now been unveiled. 189 French hotels were listed according to several criteria of excellence, and 24 of them were awarded the highest distinction, the 3 Keys!

The "Michelin Keys", the new benchmark in the hotel industry

These Keys, which testify to the quality, service and comfort of establishments, are awarded on the basis of five criteria: "architecture and interior design, quality of service, personality and character, value for money, and contribution to the local experience". An establishment can receive up to three Keys. One Key corresponds to a "unique stay", two Keys to an "exceptional stay" and three Keys to an "extraordinary stay". Just what visitors to France need!

In 2024, this initiative rewarded 24 hotels with 3 Keys, the highest distinction,** 38 hotels with 2 Keys** and 127 hotels with one Key.

The 24 3 Clefs winners

Among the establishments awarded the Michelin 3 Keys in 2024, a number of French destinations have seen some of their hotels stand out for their excellence. In Paris, a host of prestigious establishments have been honoured, with a total of nine hotels, or rather palaces, awarded 3 Keys, including such iconic names as the Ritz, the Bristol and the Meurice.

But the south of France is not to be outdone, where the winner was the famous Côte d'Azur! In Antibes, the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc stands out as the icon of this coast. The Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo and the Grand Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat have also won over visitors and the Michelin Guide selection team with their elegance and idyllic setting on the French Riviera.

Mountain hospitality was also praised. In the prestigious Alpine resort of Courchevel, two establishments were honoured with 3 Michelin Keys in 2024: the Cheval Blanc Courchevel and Le K2 Palace stand out in the gold list.
