La Palmeraie, between nature and entertainment

Located just a few kilometres from Marrakech, the Palmeraie is a soothing interlude, far from the hustle and bustle of the souks and busy streets of the red city. Dating back to the 11th century, this immense plantation boasts more than 100,000 palm trees spread over an area of around 15,000 hectares. In the midst of this luxuriant flora, a number of hotel complexes have been set up, while preserving the confidentiality of the site. The urbanisation of the area has not marred the Palmeraie, which has retained its authenticity and... has no shortage of space. Golf courses, charming residences and luxury hotels have taken up residence in this ocean of palm trees. This excursion can also be done on camelback or in a horse-drawn carriage, giving you the chance to try out a fun activity that you can do alone or with others. We invite you to discover the fabulous walks to be had in the area and the various activities on offer. A Beverly Hills-style bath in nature and entertainment.

Relaxing in the heart of the Palmeraie

Wellness experience in a luxury spa

The garden boasts sublime palm trees and breathtaking views, as well as a more luxurious offering. A number of top-of-the-range hotels with spas have taken up residence in the area, offering a range of fine services. The park owes its nobility to the trees that make it up: the palm trees. Other exotic species, such as fruit trees, also grow here. The ecosystem of this forest at the gateway to the desert is rich in biodiversity.

Cultural visit to the Palmeraie Museum

If you're looking for a cultural break, there's a museum of contemporary art hidden away in the middle of this great oasis. It consists of old farm buildings that have been converted into a gallery of contemporary Moroccan works, surrounded by a park of around 2 hectares. Small but convincing. Numerous painters are exhibited, and other artistic practices join them. Calligraphers, sculptors and photographers are represented on a permanent and temporary basis, always with a theme. Don't miss the giant cactus garden.

Treat yourself to a gourmet break at Nikki Beach

Since we've come this far, it would be a shame to miss out on this famous institution, which owes its fame to its magnificent swimming pool, one of the best in Marrakech. Blue water, immaculate white mattresses and pergolas and lounge music in the background... Welcome to Nikki Beach, a little taste of Saint-Tropez in the heart of the oasis palm grove. The menu is not to be outdone, offering a wide variety of dishes to share... or not, and to suit all tastes. The setting is truly exceptional, which explains the rather high prices.

A variety of activities

Hot rodding

For those looking for a thrill or an unusual experience, there are plenty of activities available. Some agencies offer quad biking tours. Behind the wheel of our little racer, we travel through the Moroccan countryside and its contrasting landscapes. Along the way, we come across some of the Berber families who live in the region.

Horse-drawn carriage rides

For the more cautious, the oasis can also be visited by more traditional but equally unique means, such as a horse-drawn carriage ride. There are several horse-drawn carriages offering this ride from the Place Jemaa-el-Fna. The trip takes around 2 hours. It's an opportunity to chat with the driver, who is sure to tell you a few juicy anecdotes about the Palmeraie and the history of its inhabitants.

As we are in a very popular tourist destination, some people may take advantage of this to practise mass tourism, sometimes to the detriment of the animals. We advise you to check that the animals are well looked after and to choose a mount that you think is right for you.

Sunset in the Palmeraie

To enjoy a typical Moroccan activity, we recommend that you sign up for a "sunset" excursion to discover the Marrakech countryside in a different way. This is a unique activity that will plunge you into the world at the gateway to the desert as you enjoy a cup of tea at suns et, with the palm trees as your only neighbours.

Many agencies offer an immersive experience in the palm forest on the back of a camel. Along the way, you'll pass through traditional Berber villages and stop for a moment to share a freshly brewed mint tea. It's an opportunity to experience Oriental culture in an exceptional setting. The excursion includes transport from your accommodation in Marrakech, Tuareg costumes, a camel ride at sunset and tea served by the locals. It costs around €20 per person.
