Day 1: A stroll through the old town

Situated between the castle and Friedrichsbad square, Baden-Baden's old town and its narrow streets will take you on a whirlwind tour of colour! After enjoying the narrow streets, strolling to your heart's content, are you looking for a café to take a break from your sightseeing?

🍴 Head for the local Kaffeesack café, located right in the centre of town in a pretty, bucolic alleyway. You can even sit out on the café's small terrace, to soak up the sun in summer and watch the hustle and bustle of the city...

Once you've had your fill, don't hesitate to climb to the heights of Hohenbaden castle. Built between the 11th and 15th centuries, it is now in ruins. However, you can climb the stairs of the high towers for a spectacular view of the town and the Black Forest.

🚟 If you like panoramic views and aren't afraid of heights, also take the funicular to the top of the Merkurberg hill, famous for being the steepest funicular in Europe!

⏰ From May to June, don't miss the roses in bloom in the Rosenneuheitengarten (literally "Garden of New Roses"). Open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., this unique place will inevitably immerse you in a romantic and inspiring atmosphere. Throughout the year, the Lichtentaler Allee also invites you to observe over 300 different species of flowers and plants, along a 2.5-kilometre path.

Day 2: Relaxing in the thermal waters

It would be totally unthinkable to visit Baden-Baden without trying out its famous thermal baths! Depending on your preferences, there are two options: the Caracalla Spa and the Friedrichsbad Spa.

The Caracalla Spa covers an area of over 4,000 m² and offers luxurious facilities including saunas, numerous pools and relaxation areas. Please note that these thermal baths do not accept children under the age of 7, and the sauna is forbidden to under 14s. Nursery facilities are available for children aged 18 months to 7 years.

The Friedrichsbad thermal baths, which are open to visitors aged 16 and over, are located in a magnificent setting in 170-year-old Roman style. Several treatment programmes are available to make the most of the experience. They are smaller than the Caracalla Baths, but the unique, ancient setting makes them one of the most renowned spas in the world.

🍴 After a day of relaxation, if you're dreaming of gourmet pastries, we recommend the café König, whose adorable shop looks like something out of a fairytale. You can either dine there or take your favourite pastries home to enjoy wherever you like...

Day 3: Discover the Kurgarten

Often regarded as the centre of Baden-Baden's local cultural life, the Kurgarten park is renowned for hosting numerous festivals and events throughout the year. Its world-famous Christmas market is one of the most enchanting in the region.

A bucolic, family-friendly spot, the Kurgarten is also home to a large number of boutiques, galleries, cafés and restaurants. And once you've finished shopping, you can explore the city's landmarks around the Kurgarten: the Trinkhalle, the Greco-Roman chapel, the Kurhaus, home to the city's casino, and the Kurpark, one of the city centre's most beautiful parks.
