Erquy and fishing, a certain art of living

**Erquy is an active fishing port, and one of the biggest in Brittany!

Fishing remains an essential part of the village's economy. Erquy specialises in scallop fishing.

Fishing in Erquy, an essential activity

Erquy remains a very active fishing port with over sixty fishing boats. There are also more than 250 fishermen!

The fishing port was one of Brittany's top 3 ports in 2018.

The scallop is the flagship product of the Erquy fishery. This famous mollusc is fished from October onwards.

Every year, the scallop festival is organised in one of the three main fishing ports in the Côtes-d'Armor department.

In addition to Erquy, Loguivy and Saint Quay are two other active scallop fishing ports.

⏰ Finally, you should know that the Halle à marée (fish market) in Erquy can be visited all year round (except Saturdays and Sundays), by appointment only.

Practical information

When to come to Erquy fishing port?

You can discover and walk the quays of Erquy harbour all year round.

To make the most of the most pleasant days, choose to explore between April and September.

To enjoy the pleasures and discoveries of fishing on foot, find out when the spring tides are (the most favourable periods for fishing on foot).

Finally, if you want to taste the freshest scallops, the best time to come is from the end of October.

Note that many restaurants are closed in the off-season!

🚌 How do I get to the port of Erquy?

🚈 The nearest SNCF train station to the seaside resort of Erquy is Saint-Brieuc. From Paris, several TGV trains run to Saint-Brieuc every day of the year.

🚘 By car Erquy is around 450 kilometres from Paris. Allow just over 4 hours' drive (4h20 to be exact) following the A 11 motorway. Then take the A 81 motorway, and finally the N 157, N 12 and D 34 roads.

✈️ Rennes Saint-Jacques airport is the nearest airport to Erquy. It is located around one hundred kilometres away.

🚗 Where can I park near the port of Erquy?

Several car parks are provided in the town centre. In summer, some spaces are chargeable, so come early!

Along Boulevard de la Mer and Rue du Port, parking spaces are free out of season.
