Inside its walls, time has almost stood still. The elegance of the Belle Epoque can be seen in the bar, with its beautiful columns and marble chandeliers. This bar literally plunges you back into 1940s France.

The rooms and suites are elegantly and discreetly decorated with a soothing colour palette and marble bathrooms. There are four restaurants in all, including the Michelin-starred Table d'Edgard. Breakfast is served in the Côté Jardin restaurant and offers hearty buffet-style cuisine with beautifully presented plates of exotic fruits, cold meats, fish and eggs cooked to order.

The hotel is divided into several buildings surrounded by a peaceful garden and swimming pool. Located in the chic district of Ouchy, the Hôtel d'Angleterre & Residence was home to the world's first hotel school in 1893.

Each building has its own identity and theme. Some rooms have a more floral style, while others are more 'British'. Some rooms are more sober, with a discreet colour palette ranging from grey to taupe.

The restaurant, run by chef Andrea Gaia, serves top-quality, beautifully presented Italian dishes. Finally, a hearty breakfast can be enjoyed on the beautiful outdoor terrace overlooking Lake Geneva.

It's impossible not to notice it... The neo-Gothic Château d'Ouchy stands near the shores of Lake Geneva and the port. With its turrets, it looks like a princess's castle.

Inside, the atmosphere changes. The style is more contemporary, with luxurious touches in the decor. What was once the building's inner courtyard is now the spacious, light-filled lobby and bar.

The 50 rooms are elegantly decorated in shades of cream, white and wood. Some offer a view of the lake, while the suites are more original. They feature stone arches and painted beams. In the tower there is a suite with a wooden ceiling that offers a breathtaking view of the city.
