Salzburg is a multi-faceted city that will appeal to lovers of nature, architecture and museums alike. You can choose to immerse yourself in the heart of the luxurious, bustling city centre, where you'll find numerous luxury hotels and private flats ready to welcome you (prices will inevitably be a little higher in the city centre).
If you're looking for peace and quiet, you'll be better off on the outskirts: lovers will be enchanted by the banks of the Salzach, the charming river that runs through the centre of the city. And if you're a student or on a tight budget, don't panic: the city is full of affordable accommodation and youth hostels. Finally, hikers and skiers will probably prefer to get away to more mountainous areas, ideal for practising their sport.
Choosing the Hotel Sacher means opting for the ultimate in luxury! Ideally located next to Mozart's house in the heart of Salzburg, this is a legendary hotel, just like its brother in Vienna. You'll be in the heart of the old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, right next to Mozart's house. Salzburg airport is 15 km away, so allow 20 minutes for transfers.
Labelled "The Leading Hotel of The World", the Hotel Sacher Salzburg is characterised by the charm of its lobby, its rooms, its restaurant and its café, where tourists flock to savour the famous Sacher Tochte! It now houses 135 rooms and suites, the Mozartkugel Café and the Salzachgrill Barbecue Restaurant. Guests have included Julie Andrews, the star of The Sound of Music, filmed in Salzburg, the Beatles, Hugh Grant and Hillary Clinton.
The style of each furnished room or suite has been carefully chosen. Wood panelling and carved ceilings are combined with elegant paintings and silk wallpaper. This taste for tradition does not prevent the hotel from being equipped with modern facilities (air conditioning, wifi, minibar, etc).
Those who want to travel in an eco-friendly way can do so with "The Keep, Eco room". Just a 10-minute walk from the main railway station, and 2 minutes from the River Salzer, it offers private rooms (some with sitting areas) with shared bathroom facilities.
The whole concept of this accommodation is based on the notion of recovery: the property was a former retirement home, which was saved from demolition. It has been decorated with many items that were destined to be thrown away: the coat hangers and the pretty chandelier in the common room come from wood collected from the river bank. Similarly, the bedside table is made from scraps of wood from furniture manufacturers. Finally, the curtain in the communal shower is made from old tents that had to be thrown away. The rooms have a warm, urban look.
This authenticity is reflected in services such as breakfast, with ingredients sourced from local producers less than 50 km away. The soap in the showers is also home-made and local.
In addition to its eco-responsible aspect, the establishment is very practical for travellers looking for independence: access to the room is via a unique code sent by email before your arrival. So no stress if you're arriving late at night!

Thanks to its privileged location on the Mönchsberg mountain, the Stadtalm Naturfreundehaus has a superb panoramic view of Salzburg, which is rare for a youth hostel! Whether it's from your room, the restaurant or the garden, you're in for a real treat!
The communal dining room is charming, with its rustic look, its fireplace (very welcome in winter!), and the typically Austrian dishes served there. In summer, you can also enjoy the garden. The Stadtalm Naturfreundehaus offers 22 guest beds in 5 rooms. The dormitories are simply furnished and have parquet flooring. Bathrooms are shared.
""Spectacular views from the room's window look like a postcard. The photos don't do it justice. It's an incredible place.
The environment is quiet and cool, as the hotel is set in the middle of nature. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are very clean".

You can stay in one of the hotel's 26 rooms, which come in different sizes (single, double, family). The family who run the hotel have chosen to decorate the interiors in a traditional way. The dining room, in particular, recalls the look of Austrian inns, with its small openwork wooden chairs.

This means you can enjoy both nature and proximity to the city centre (the accommodation is just 3 km from the city centre). The views from the rooms and restaurant are superb. A plunge into history with Radisson Blu Hotel Altstadt
Immerse yourself in Salzburg's history with the Radisson Blu Hotel Altstadt. A jewel in the heart of Salzburg, the hotel has seen centuries of history pass it by. The building was originally constructed in 1377 as a brewery. As you look around, you will see traces of the past that have been carefully preserved throughout the establishment (medieval wooden ceilings, intricate stucco work, old paintings). Each room has been personalised with a different decoration. You will be staying in luxurious rooms of the highest standard (5 stars).
This quality is also evident in the hotel's restaurant, called "Symphonie". You can enjoy exquisite dishes made with seasonal regional ingredients, accompanied by carefully selected wines. The view from the restaurant, which overlooks the Kapuzinerberg mountain, is truly superb.
"Historic hotel in a fantastic location, central but very quiet if you choose one of the rooms overlooking the pedestrian street. The staff are charming and couldn't be more helpful. Excellent buffet breakfast with a wide selection of cheeses, meats, fruit, breads and pastries (including Sacher Torte). Beautiful dining room with views of the hills and river. The rooms are spacious and traditionally decorated with very comfortable beds and a coffee machine. All in all a wonderful hotel and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Salzburg for a few days.
