Its fragile environment and the richness of its birdlife have even earned it classification and protection as part of the Grand Site Cap D'Erquy - Cap Fréhel.
For bird lovers and photographers alike, the site's cliffs provide shelter for a wide variety of species.
Cormorants, grebes, warblers and black scoters are just some of the many birds that can be seen here.

In fact, the seaside resort of Erquy has the luxury of offering 8 different beaches to its visitors. Try to enjoy them all during your holiday in the Erquy region!
In order from the west of the town you'll find :
- Saint-Pabu beach: a beautiful stretch of sand, it lies between the hill and the English Channel. Please note that the beach is closed to pets from 15 May to 15 September.
- The sandy beach of Caroual: a wonderful cove. With its long ribbon of fine sand, it's ideal for families to enjoy (lifeguard surveillance in summer).
- La plage du Centre: as its name suggests, this beach is at the heart of the resort of Erquy, just before the fishing port.
- The remarkable wild beaches of Lourtuais, Portuais, Guen and Lanruen.
- The fine sandy beaches of Saint-Michel and Les Montiers, near the islet of Saint-Michel to the north-east of Erquy.
Erquy is also a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Why not try kitesurfing?
To improve your skills or simply learn the basics of kitesurfing, head for Kite Center 22 (qualified instructors).
Alternatively, for a choice of activities and relevant information, head to La Maison de la Mer.
This remarkable municipal structure is home to a range of service providers and services all linked to the sea and nautical activities(diving, sailing, sea outings).

Located around ten kilometres north-east of Erquy, Cap Fréhel is a must-see when visiting northern Brittany.
This majestic site towers more than 70 metres above the raging waves of the English Channel.
The exceptional panorama stretches from the Ile de Bréhat to the Pointe du Grouin. You have to pay to get to the lighthouse, but the view from the top is fantastic (make the effort to climb the steps)!
As a bonus, Cap Fréhel is home to a renowned ornithological nature reserve of inestimable ecological value.
The site is a breeding ground for a large number of bird species (kittiwakes, cormorants, razorbills).
Nearly 400 hectares of moorland are also protected. The area is part of the Natura 2000 network.

How to get there?
If you choose to travel by train, the SNCF offers departures from Gare Montparnasse in Paris.
The journey from Paris to Saint-Brieuc takes just 3? hours. Most of the journey is on a high-speed line. Then hire a car to Erquy.
By car, the journey from Paris takes 5 hours on average, for just over 450 kilometres of road (toll and free motorways).

Erquy has a wide choice of accommodation. Hotels, bed and breakfasts and rental accommodation will meet all your requirements.

Transport
The Distribus network runs buses between Erquy and Lamballe. Line 4, Terre et Mer, links the two towns.
Parking is not always easy (especially in summer).
Most car parks in the centre of Erquy are free.
If you decide to discover Cap d'Erquy, opt for a walk starting from the port of Erquy.
There's no need to take your car, and what's more, you'll be discovering part of the town's superb coastline.
The coastal path passes close to the Lacs Bleus site and the Port Blanc cove before reaching Cap d'Erquy.
