The day couldn't get off to a better start thanks to the delicious breakfast served in the first floor dining room, which can seat 110 guests. Guests walk past an antique-looking column, present themselves at the reception and are shown to their seats. A piece of advice: avoid the tables near the kitchen door as it bangs shut every time a waiter passes through... Once seated, a waiter quickly returns to take your order for hot drinks (tea, coffee, hot chocolate), then you can head wide-eyed to the buffet. Ham, hanging like in any self-respecting Spanish tapas bar, croissants, pains au chocolat, local pastries (lemon meringue pie, chocolate cake, millefeuille with Catalan cream, the only dish not made on site but ordered from the best cake shop in Barcelona, in the Barceloneta district), a large choice of delicious breads, cheese, cold meat cuts, and of course fresh fruit juices (orange, apple, carrot, strawberry, etc.). All the food is well presented and exudes class! There is also a show cooking area, where pancakes, waffles, and all sorts of eggs (fried, scrambled, omelette etc.) are served. One week isn't long enough to try it all! In summer, guests can sit outside or on the panoramic terrace on the 10th floor, which serves a tapas menu from 9:00am to 8:00pm, and until 2:00am from May to October.
The breakfast room, which is open from 7:00am to 11:00am, is also where you will find Mediterranean cuisine for lunch between 1:00pm and 2:30pm. From April to October, guests can also eat tapas on the panoramic terrace (65-person capacity) which affords a stunning view of Barcelona and, in particular, the Sagrada Familia. If you want to enjoy your tapas to the sound of the piano, head to the lounge bar (47-person capacity). Seated on a comfortable sofa, you can savour the tapas prepared by Michelin-star Catalonian chef Nandu Jubany as a set menu during the week and à la carte at the weekend, from 8:00pm to 11:00pm. There is no official gourmet restaurant on site but the hotel owns the Petit Comité restaurant two blocks away near the Pedrera, where the kitchen is run by a Michelin star chef.
