    Location 6.0 /10

The Cézanne stands along the Boulevard d'Alsace, a short distance from the city centre though still just a few minutes' walk from La Croisette and a little further again from the Palais des Festivals. The shopping street of Rue de Cannes and the Rue d'Antibes (another shopping street but this time very upmarket) are just a few steps from the hotel whilst the station is a few hundred metres away.

    Accommodation 8.70 /10

The 28 guest rooms at the Cézanne come in 3 different categories: 5 Standard, 18 Superior, and 5 Junior Suites.
The Standard rooms are the same as the Superior except that they are located on the ground floor, and two of them have been specially adapted for guests with reduced mobility.
With a floor area of 16m², the Standard rooms provide comfortable surroundings and the same style of decor as the rest of the hotel. This includes varying shades of grey on the walls with a vibrant colour (six different colours, in fact, including pink, green, blue, and yellow) for the bedspreads, wall behind the headboard, curtains, and chairs to brighten up the otherwise gloomy surroundings.
The particularly elaborate headboards are covered in grey leather and have buttons in the particular bright colour chosen for that room.
Low key, classy, and dynamic, they are furnished with a small dark wooden desk, flat-screen television, and parquet flooring. The grey and white bathrooms, meanwhile, have a real cocoon-like appeal to them.
All of the bathrooms come with a bathtub, bathrobes, a hair-dryer, and a selection of hospitality products (some also have a separate toilet).

    Overview 8.20 /10

Arriving at the Cézanne is rather like crossing the jungle, albeit a very smart, well-appointed one. It has a beautiful dark wooden walkway, where series of palm trees, shrubs, and sculptures guide new arrivals right through to the terrace leading into the reception area.
When you see the light grey leather, slate floor, and little touches of pink here and there, you'll soon realise that a great deal of thought has gone into the design of the place and the choice of materials used. You might even say the surroundings here are rather 'haute-couture', like a Chanel boutique, with elegant lines and a few touches of vibrant colour.
With its large picture window overlooking the gardens and its clear, minimalist style, the huge, welcoming lobby bathes in natural light and is where you'll find the hotel's 24-hour bar.
With a lot of hotels, the description of the facilities would end here, but not with the Cézanne! 'Service' really is the order of the day at this boutique hotel and in this respect you'll find yourself well and truly......well, served!
The hotel's gym is equipped with a large number of machines (including an exercise bike, treadmill, rowing machine, and various weight-lifting devices) and along with the hammam is accessible to guests 24 hours a day. There is also a massage room for your complete relaxation.

    Food and drink

There is no restaurant at the Cézanne but both the bar and room service are available 24/7, the latter consisting of a dozen or so dishes you can have delivered straight to your room. An international buffet breakfast is served in the breakfast room but can also be delivered to your room should you so wish.

    To know

The hotel's 17 car garage is monitored and has direct access to the hotel. There is a safe and free Wi-Fi in every guest room. Luggage, baby-sitting, and dry-cleaning services, as well as an in-room hairdressing service, are available on request. Small pets are accepted at the hotel for a charge of around £18 a day.

The Hôtel De Provence is slightly set back from the city centre and offers two major advantages, namely a small but very pleasant garden and the fact that it has just been renovated. The hotel is very clean and bright with some charming communal areas. The more neutral guest rooms are ideal for conference-goers looking for a basic level of comfort and some peace and quiet in Cannes.

This little city hotel certainly doesn't look the most impressive but its strength lies in its location at the heart of the city and in the warm welcome extended by the owner. The hotel, as its name suggests, is perfect for those attending conferences in the area and the most festive of festival-goers. If it's charm and style you're looking for when it comes to choosing a hotel in Cannes, however, then this is probably not the place for you.

When refinement and charm are top the bill, the only thing you have to fear as a guest - or an audience member - is the sound of the clapperboard announcing the end of your stay.
