This little city hotel certainly doesn't look the most impressive but its strength lies in its location at the heart of the city and in the warm welcome extended by the owner. The hotel, as its name suggests, is perfect for those attending conferences in the area and the most festive of festival-goers. If it's charm and style you're looking for when it comes to choosing a hotel in Cannes, however, then this is probably not the place for you.

    Location 9.67 /10

The Hotel des Congrès et Festival is located in the centre of Cannes, just a few streets from the shopping street of Rue d'Antibes. The Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, the Boulevard de la Croisette, and the train station are all also only a 2 minute walk away. As you step outside the establishment you will see two Irish pubs, one of which is a lounge-bar, and a Monoprix grocery store, whilst the surrounding streets are home to a plethora of restaurants and shops.

    Accommodation 7.20 /10

The Hotel des Congrès et Festival has 20 guest rooms: 5 singles, 11 doubles, 2 twins, and 2 triples, spread over 3 storeys. None of the rooms here are strictly non-smoking. The pale yellow walls, red and blue floors, and general decor of the guest rooms mean they rather resemble the set of one of Pedro Almodovar's films - colourful to the point of being almost saturated. The neutral grey of the walls doesn't quite counteract the explosion of colour found in the rooms: French-blue carpets, lemon yellow curtains, salmon-coloured sheets, grey and pink bedspreads, red curtains, and blue carpets - all the colours of the palette are definitely used here!
Other than the picture above the bed, that's really all there is to say about the decor in the guest rooms.
In terms of amenities, all of the rooms, which have a floor area of 10-12m², are equipped with a flat-screen television broadcasting international channels, a small (empty) refrigerator, a table, and two chairs. The bathrooms, too, are pretty basic, with either a shower or a bathtub, a wash basin, and a WC, all surrounded by pink tiles. It's not the most stylish but it's certainly functional and clean.

    Overview 6.95 /10

The small entrance to the hotel is set back between a France Loisirs outlet and an Irish pub, so it's not the most inviting of places. The narrow corridor, lobby and reception are very 80s in style, complete with violet walls, shuttered-window mirror, and little white wrought iron garden bench.
The relaxation area-cum-breakfast room (which can only accommodate up to 12 people at a time) is nice and bright, bringing a welcome touch of cheer to this somewhat heterogeneous combination of styles that features no sense of unity whatsoever in terms of decor and furnishings. Generally speaking, the pastel walls, wooden chairs, and old posters of Nice, Cannes, Antibes, Grasse, and Menton make for pleasant enough if not the most charming of surroundings.
The staircases and corridors at the hotel, meanwhile, complete with bright red carpet and old cinema posters, are a reminder that you're in Cannes.

    To know

Other than breakfast, no restaurant facilities are available at this hotel and the minibars are empty. There is, however, a Monoprix grocery store just outside the establishment that is open every day until midnight in July and August.
To the rear of the breakfast room you'll find a kitchen with a microwave oven, a coffee machine, a kettle, and some hotplates for guests to use.
If he hasn't already done so, the owner will be happy to provide any further information you may need as well as advice on the best places to eat and things to see and do. He really does pull out all the stops to ensure guests feel welcome.

The Hôtel De Provence is slightly set back from the city centre and offers two major advantages, namely a small but very pleasant garden and the fact that it has just been renovated. The hotel is very clean and bright with some charming communal areas. The more neutral guest rooms are ideal for conference-goers looking for a basic level of comfort and some peace and quiet in Cannes.

Far from the images of rental apartments from our childhood (very kitsch and soulless studio apartments), the Villa d'Estelle has combined the advantages of a hotel (reception, room service, etc.) with the freedom that a fully equipped apartment has to offer. An ideal solution for families or groups of friends, the immaculate low key decor will appeal to many a guest.

This was the first hotel to be built on the Croisette back in the 1960's. These days, the Grand Hôtel Cannes not only continues to offer luxurious 5 star accommodation, it has also kept its original interior design. If this matches your tastes, you will be in 7th heaven, because the hotel could almost classify as a museum of 1960's decorative arts, as well as offering services to match its lofty category.

This really is a hotel of contrasts; on the one hand it proudly displays its Provençal decor (perhaps even a little too much so) whilst on the other its guest rooms ooze charm and are very low-key. The swimming pool and the views from the rooftop of the hotel are outstanding, but on the downside, the only form of catering provided is a single vending machine.

This place is the symbol of Cannes and its festival, and every year plays host to dozens of stars who gather from all over the world for the international event. During this period, even its private beach is completely taken over by the studio of French satellite TV channel Canal+.
It was built in 1927 and to this day is the biggest establishment on the Riviera and a true example of French luxury hotel accommodation.

This historical, listed building is more than just a hotel, it is a favourite with legendary actors of the silver screen, attracting them in droves during the annual film festival. For the remainder of the year, it fulfils its purpose as a luxury establishment in the beautiful 'Belle Epoque' style.
