Facing the port, the Radisson Blu 1835 Hotel is a modern and classy establishment that welcomes rather well-off guests from all over the world. The decor is reason enough to book a room here, even if it's only for one night. However, if you want to fully enjoy this atmosphere filled with decorative creativity, try to avoid the classic rooms.

    Location 6.5 /10

The Radisson Blu 1835 Hotel is located at the far end of the port. It's close to the historical neighbourhood of the Suquet, and a short stroll will take you to the Croisette and the Palais des Festivals. A little further on, the centre of Cannes awaits you with its famous, luxury boutique-lined Rue d'Antibes.

    Accommodation 8.20 /10

This is the biggest surprise that the hotel has to offer. From the Deluxe category upwards, all the rooms bathe in the same atmosphere as the rest of the hotel: the decor is simple, pure and soothing, and features clever colour schemes (white, off-white and purple), and the utmost care was taken when choosing the furniture. However, the Classic rooms (i.e. the standard rooms) have not received the same treatment.
Strangely enough, the Classic rooms have been decorated in a very different way. This leaves you with the choice of 2 options : the "Provençale" style or the ship's cabin style. Although both are quite pretty, it's difficult to understand why such dissimilar styles were chosen.
The "Provençale" room boasts yellow walls, a four-poster bed, white furniture and fabrics typical of the South of France, thus making for a chic and yet simple setting. Most guests will find this light decorative style to their liking. Most of them boast a garden view, whereas the others look out onto the Suquet neighbourhood.
The rooms that look like a "ship's cabin" are a lot more classy. This is fundamentally a question of style. The cabin room is not as well-lit compared with the yellow "Provençale" room, but is more refined and elegant with mahogany-style wooden panelling and furniture reminiscent of the interior of a luxury yacht. There are also photos of sailing boats dotted around, and the porthole on the door adds a final touch to the maritime atmosphere. These rooms would go down a lot better if the rest of the hotel was decorated in a maritime theme, but this is not the case.
Stranger still is the fact that the bathrooms of these rooms were renovated in the same style as the superior rooms. It appears that guests shouldn't expect too much in terms of harmonised styles.
As for the renovated bathrooms, they're very pleasant and welcoming thanks to the brown tiling and the mosaic-covered wash basin. They also feature either a shower or a bathtub, dressing gowns, a hair-dryer and hospitality products.

    Overview 8.70 /10

Despite the rather formal welcome by staff, the lobby of the Radisson Blu 1835 Hotel and Thalasso is wonderfully comfortable and cosy. It's a place bursting with style, imagination and good taste.
The image that best describes the hall is that of a fluffy cloud. The shapes, materials and colours boast exquisite smoothness and rounded lines. The lounge is like a huge white shell, and is full of surprises in terms of the shapes and materials used. The armchairs alone give you a pretty good idea of the place. These inverted domes made from white plastic and covered in patches of off-white and purple leather resemble true artistic flowers.
The first thing you'll notice is the soothing colours (purple and off-white) and the clever layout of the armchairs and sofas, creating little intimate lounges.
The same style and atmosphere are found on the hotel's top floor, on the 200 m² rooftop terrace that boasts a panoramic view of Cannes, the port and the sea. Once again, the furniture here was carefully selected. The colour scheme is a bit darker here too (black and natural wood), but the furniture features the same lines and curves as in the lobby, and the flower-dome armchairs downstairs are replaced here by armchairs with black openwork inverted domes. The terrace also features a small pond with water jets, wooden deckchairs and white elongated vases.
As areas filling the space between the earth (the lobby) and the sky (the terrace), the breakfast room and the business centre are where these two decorative styles meet. The breakfast room boasts a long line of black tables flanked on one side by a small bench and on the other by large comfortable armchairs. The Business Centre is a large and modern room with big desks and iMac computers.
As its name suggests, one of the major assets of the Radisson Blu 1835 Hotel and Thalasso is its thalassotherapy centre. It's a highly modern centre, both in terms of its state-of-the-art facilities, and of its decor, which is pure and mixes chrome-plated metal surfaces and rock. Covering an area of 2,700 m², the thermal baths include 46 treatment rooms, 3 exfoliation parlours with heated marble tables, facial treatments, luxury body treatments and makeovers, weight-lifting and fitness machines, a caldarium, Turkish baths, a sauna, a Japanese bath, and even a hairdressing salon.

    Food and drink 8.45 /10

On the top floor of the hotel lies the 360 restaurant, as in "panoramic 360-degree view". This place features a draped ceiling and off-white and purple furniture (as in the lobby), and here, impression of floating around on a cloud is only strengthened! Open for lunch and dinner, the 360 offers a £26.00 set menu that includes starter, main course and dessert, and a £35.00 set menu for lunch. The resident chef is Raynald Thivet, who has created a menu that shows marked Mediterranean influences.
There is a circular bar that lies in the extension of the 360 and offers a view of the port, which can seen from the inside and from the outside.
The Thermes Marins well-being centre has its own organic food restaurant in order to be totally in tune with the treatments it offers. Japanese cuisine is used as the basis of these culinary, healthy, and organic offerings. Since Bentos are all the rage at the moment, each treatment has its own.
However, if you're not all that into organic food and treatments, you'll enjoy the pastries that come with the international buffet breakfast, which is laid out every morning on the tables in the business centre.

    To know

In the summer, there is a DJ providing musical entertainment on the terrace.
The hotel has a parking valet service and a car park with about 20 spaces (for approximately £32.00 per day).
As access to the top floor (and therefore to the terrace) is open to all, including non-hotel guests, the guest rooms are only accessible via the lift if you have your room's key card. All the rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi and 4 of them have been adapted to cater for disabled guests.

The entrance to the Gray d'Albion leaves an impression, but not necessarily in a positive way, because of its many mirrors and (too) dated brass features. Once through the reception, however, you find yourself in a hotel offering a fairly high level of service and a gourmet restaurant.
