The Hotel Ellington resides at 25 Boulevard Dubouchage, in other words, right in the city centre of Nice.
The seafront, the Promenade des Anglais and the old town are all less than a mile from the hotel on foot. In terms of shops, restaurants and bars, you'll be spoilt for choice; the city's shopping streets are just a stone's throw from the hotel.
Despite its city centre location, the Hotel Ellington is situated in a relatively residential area, and so is spared from the noise of the nightlife and the commercial thoroughfares.
The Nice Ville SNCF train station is about a mile from the hotel (between a 10 and 15 minute walk). Visitors can take the number 23 or 52 bus from the airport to the 'Gare SNCF' bus stop, then take the tramway in the 'Pont Michel' direction and get off at the 'Jacques Médecin' stop, just 400m from the hotel.

The Hotel Ellington has 100 guest rooms divided into several categories: Classic, Deluxe, Executive and Junior Suite.
On the decoration front, the rooms have three different ambiances: wrought iron and the warm colours of the south; wenge wood and bright tones for a modern aspect; and a Louis XVI style for a bit of French classicism.
The result is on a par with the decor in the common areas. These modern-style rooms are very classy. The Classic guest rooms have one of two decors: either wrought iron furniture with colours of the south, or the soft and warm colours of the Sahara. Without being huge, they are a relatively comfortable size and are equipped with air-conditioning, a safe, a flat-screen television, Wi-Fi Internet access, a minibar and tea and coffee-making facilities.
The Deluxe rooms are more spacious than the Classic rooms, with the added bonus of bathrobes and a complimentary bottle of water provided. There is a designer ambiance in these rooms, where the wenge wood and red silk curtains create the most beautiful effect.
The biggest rooms in the hotel are the Executive guest rooms. These rooms have one of two ambiances: French with Louis XVI style furniture, or refined with contemporary furniture. Moreover, they also have a Nespresso coffee machine and free Wi-Fi Internet access.
The Junior Suites have a lounge area in addition to the bedroom, although the amenities are the same as in the Executive rooms.
The bedrooms overlook either rue Dubouchage or the patio.
The bathrooms are designed in a modern style with dark grey and off-white tiling. All except two are equipped with a bathtub and a hair-dryer. The toilets are not separate.
The Hotel Ellington is located in an authentic Nice house dating from 1920. The elegant pink façade of this bourgeois house might give you the impression that the door leads to a bijou apartment-style universe...but no! Behind the colourful façade lies a resolutely jazz, chic and elegant ambiance. You just need to enter the lobby to understand that not only is the hotel named after the famous jazz pianist Duke Ellington, but it also harbours the soul of jazz music.
The moulded ceilings, designer furniture, parquet floors, the various shades of grey and the hushed atmosphere of the lobby all undeniably echo the sophistication of the artist's music, and who you can just picture walking by in his suit and tie. Off to one side is the Duke Bar & Lounge, another room that recreates the spirit of the 50s and 60s. The wooden bar and parquet floor, the leather armchairs, the piano and the subdued lighting all give it a swing feel reminiscent of a New York jazz club. Once past the bar, guests find themselves in an equally pleasant but more cosy room. Leather armchairs are featured here too, as well as a modern black marble fireplace that helps to create a relaxing atmosphere filled with the soothing sounds of jazz music.
This lounge separates the lobby and the bar from the breakfast room. You just need to pull the curtain across the doorway to the latter to transform the lounge into an intimate sitting room.
The breakfast room is bathed in natural light that streams in through the large bay windows. With its dark wood furniture, its parquet floor and its moulded ceiling, it is both elegant and welcoming.
As you pass through the glass doors surrounding the bar, you can see that the hotel opens out onto a peaceful patio bathed in light. Furnished with comfortable wrought iron chairs and armchairs, it's the perfect spot to forget the surrounding city while relaxing with a drink.
Back in the lobby and waiting for one of the two lifts, guests can linger over the beautiful black and white snapshots of great jazz figures that decorate the long, enchanting narrow corridors leading to the guest rooms.
