Less than 30 minutes from Nice: this Côte d'Azur village is one of the most beautiful perched villages in France.

Nice and Cannes are undoubtedly the most popular tourist destinations on the Côte d'Azur. But there's more to the destination than just these 2 coastal towns. On the contrary, there are some incredibly charming inland villages. And there's one that really catches our eye! Colourful and overlooking the Mediterranean, welcome to Eze, one of France's most beautiful hilltop villages.

Eze, a real gem in the hills above Nice

Far from the hustle and bustle of Nice and its Promenade des Anglais, Eze is a charming village perched at an altitude of 400 metres. Its location high above the coast offers a remarkable panoramic view of the Mediterranean and the Côte d'Azur coastline.

Eze and its remarkable architecture

As well as its splendid views over the surrounding area, the village's medieval architecture is one of its major assets. Visitors will be amazed from the moment they arrive, as they pass through Eze's imposing fortified gateway, which dates back to the 14th century.

Not to be missed are the Fort de la Révère, an imposing military monument, and the church of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, built in neoclassical style and listed as a historic monument since 1984.

The discovery continues through the narrow, winding streets, where you can easily get lost among the stone buildings and colourful houses of the village. Keep your eyes peeled, as some of them may hide artists' and craftsmen's studios.
