The Splendid Hotel and Spa is located in a building with typical 1960s style architecture (it was renovated in 1964). A large, rather plain façade conceals this 8 storey hotel.
Fortunately, though, once you've passed through the glass door you enter a lobby full of white and brown marble, wooden elements and plenty of light. The contrast created between the classical-style reception, with its long rounded wooden desk, huge column, brown marble flooring marking out the area and the stained glass window fresco, and the entirely white lobby decorated in a refined modern style gives the entire ensemble quite a bit of class.
This vast entrance hall contains the reception, an open lounge area with white leather armchairs, two lifts and a beautiful white marble staircase leading to the upper floors. Nestled under this staircase is a small business corner with a computer, free Wi-Fi and a printer.
Conference rooms (which were being renovated at the time of our visit) are located in the extension of the lobby. The hotel has 5 meeting rooms: the 120m² Masséna, the 65m² Louisiane, the 55m² Atrium, the 25m² Musiciens and the 25m² Victor Hugo. The last two even benefit from natural lighting. They are all equipped with a screen, a video projector and a whiteboard.
To the right of reception, a door opens onto the spa and fitness area, a small room bathed in natural light thanks to a large picture window with parquet flooring and equipment that includes a stationary bicycle and a treadmill. The Fitness Corner is open to guests 24/7.
For the rest of the facilities, head to the 8th and top floor where you will find the bar, restaurant and a panoramic terrace.
Open until 2:00am, the Essenciel Bar is one of the most fabulous spots for enjoying a drink in Nice. It isn't so much the interior space, which despite everything else is very pleasant (sober but bright at the same time, and modern and welcoming), but rather the outdoor terrace with its pergola lining the swimming pool that will seduce even the most demanding of guests. Overlooking the city, this terrace offers a 360° view of the old town and the sea. At nightfall, the Essenciel-Bar turns into a lounge and welcomes guests until 2:00am.
Here you will also find an outdoor swimming pool (open from April to October) with deckchairs, as well as a Jacuzzi and a solarium. It is possible to enjoy lunch on the terrace with a snack-type menu that also offers tapas.
Right next to the Essenciel-Bar is the Essenciel-Restaurant, which is decorated in the same style. With its large bay windows, its very sober contemporary style and a few tables set up outside overlooking the city, this restaurant run by Chef Annie Lamand proposes dishes highlighting organic and local products.
