    Location 8.9 /10

    17/20
Located in Rue du Temple in Paris's 4th arrondissement, this establishment has a beautiful and strategic location at the heart of the 'Marais' neighbourhood. From the hotel, guests can reach the Pompidou Centre on foot and stroll through all of the little pedestrian streets leading to Châtelet. You are greeted with the historical centre of Paris as soon as you walk out the door: Notre-Dame, Ile Saint-Louis, and the Hôtel de Ville are just a few minutes away. One of the most picturesque squares in the City of Light is also just a few streets away from the hotel: the Place des Vosges. As for the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, and the Latin Quarter, hop on the metro for a few stations and you're there. The banks of the Seine make for a splendid stroll when they are closed to traffic. Acacias Hotel is located next to the Hôtel de Ville metro station where you can hop on line 1, which has a world famous monument to be discovered at every station along the way.

    Accommodation 5.70 /10

The Acacias is a 2 star hotel with 33 guest rooms ranging from standard to quadruple. What makes it original is the apartment you can book here, which sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms. The decor and the layout of the rooms are a little depressing. You may feel as though you are in an old house belonging to one of your favourite elderly aunts. With sturdy wooden furniture made of solid and rustic wood, the rooms aren't exactly stylish or modern. You don't exactly need to be a fanatic of the latest trends to feel as though the establishment might be taking it a little far here with its outdated decor. The rooms are very well kept, impeccably clean, and rather spacious, though, so it's a shame that the bedspreads and curtains with their flower motif, the awful blue carpet, and the decor in general are not to everyone's taste, which takes away some of the charm of the place. As for the bathrooms, their white tiling just adds to the traditional and basic impressions given by the hotel. However, you will be given a first class welcome here, which really is the most important thing once you're finished sleeping.

    Overview 5.45 /10

Located in the very centre of Paris, the 4 storey building of the hotel has a charming exterior with its old bricks and windows in the roof. Inside though, the architecture is one of the most quirky we've seen, with numerous hallways and landings leading to the guest rooms. That being said, this hotel is somewhat outdated and could really do with a little effort in terms of decor. Located at the end of a hallway, the breakfast room is quite small and filled with rustic furniture, a bit like the rest of the hotel. We really can't feel the slightest trace of modernity between these walls.

The Duo is contemporary and in a prime location right next to the Paris Town Hall (the Hôtel de Ville) where most areas are accessible on foot. The area is very animated with the Beaubourg around the corner but the hotel is fairly quiet when the windows are shut. Duo is an all-round good place to stay despite it not having anything specifically Parisian about it a part from the toiletries and the stairway in the old part of the establishment which is said to have been used by Marie Antoinette.

The Villa Saint Germain is nestled in an alley behind the church of Saint Germain des Prés. It was once very well known for its jazz club, and although this venue so beloved of fans of the genre has been closed for years, its famous name lives on in the hotel. Renovations carried out in 2001 gave the establishment a modern look based on a minimalistic design. This is a small, family-owned establishment without much in the way of communal space; instead, proud of the neighbourhood in which it is located, it actively encourages its guests to get out and about to make the most of the many attractions of the City of Light.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
