This hotel has no class to speak of, but it is located in one of the liveliest parts of the capital, with no shortage of places to go for a night out. The rooms are a good size and have everything you need for a comfortable stay with no extra frills, and the owner is forthcoming and friendly.

    Location 6.34 /10

A short, easy walk takes you to the Place de la Bastille, just a few minutes away, whilst the Trois Portes is also really no distance at all from the lively, trendy side of Paris and all the excitement it has to offer. Given the vast number of restaurants and cafes, of varying degrees of style, and bars, from the most down-to-earth to the most sophisticated, you will not have to wander far to find something to your taste. Original acts can be seen at both the Théâtre Comédie Bastille and, of course, the Opéra Bastille, or if film is more your thing, there are several cinemas around the Place de la Bastille. If you'd like to visit monuments and museums a little further afield, many metro lines run though this part of town, providing easy access to the most interesting parts of the city. The Place des Vosges is also very close-by and is a great place to start exploring on foot before heading further into the Marais district.

    Accommodation 6.70 /10

Some of the rooms here are huge. At first, the simplicity of the decor may come across as a bit depressing, but a closer look reveals that they have everything they need, including a fully-stocked mini-bar, a safe and a flat-screen satellite television - not to mention beds! On a more serious note, while they are unlikely to woo you with their charm, the rooms are not badly laid-out, have a clean imitation parquet floor (certainly preferable to a real but threadbare carpet), and are furnished with useful large wooden wardrobes. Basically, you'll have everything you need and very little else. The bathrooms are quite large, with standard white tiling, a hair-dryer and in some cases a bathtub. The hotel has no Internet access or specific services, but this is not a problem when all the activity of the Bastille is just on your doorstep.

    Overview 5.45 /10

The hotel stands on a street corner, its facade a little worn and the internal decor hardly cutting edge: the reception is a combination of flashy purples and brown tiling. So whilst this is certainly no temple of good taste or bright, matching colours, it is a small neighbourhood hotel with just 50 beds, a decent level of comfort and an owner who is chatty, kind and attentive. A unique feature of the hotel is its breakfast room, housed in a disused bar next to the hotel. As it is now only used by the hotel's guests, you get the impression of starting the day with a big brasserie and its zinc counter all to yourself! Tables are arranged next to the windows, with views of the street, which certainly makes a change from most hotels, where breakfast is served in a dimly lit basement room. As the hotel does not offer the luxury of a lift, you will need to lug your suitcase up the stairs.

The communal areas of the hotel are very pleasant indeed and there's nothing better than relaxing with a coffee on the comfortable bench seats in the lounge.

Another boutique design from the people who brought you Le Chat Noir and Le Color hotels, the Standard is just as successful in its own way. Unlike the other two, however, this hotel's style may not be to everyone's taste, being a touch more off-beat than its cousins. Well-located, innovatively appointed and daring, it offers a breath of fresh air from the busy Parisian streets. The Standard is the perfect base for a short stay in the French capital and comes with the easyvoyage.co.uk seal of approval!

The Bristol is one of the few luxury hotels in Paris that belongs to a European family (German) rather than one of the great families of Asia or the United Arab Emirates. Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. Its gourmet restaurant attracts a demanding clientele that is fond of excellent cuisine.

The George V is one of the most prestigious Parisian palaces in the city. You barely have to cross the threshold before realising you are entering a hotel in which luxury, perfection and indulgence are the name of the game. Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
