    Location 9.7 /10

The hotel overlooks the busy Rue La Fayette, with a great many shops in the vicinity and just a 5-minute walk from the lively Grands Boulevards district, renowned for its nightlife, its picturesque Parisian alleyways and its bars, restaurants, cinemas and clubs. In spite of its vibrancy, this is still a safe part of town. The Folies Bergère cabaret venue is also just a stone's throw away, whilst to the rear of the hotel stands Montmartre Hill. The closest metro station is Le Peletier.

    Accommodation 7.70 /10

The hotel's 101 guest rooms come in four categories, namely Standard, Superior (which includes most of the rooms), Deluxe and Suite, the decor either Vintage, complete with second-hand furniture, or Contemporary, but always tasteful, well-appointed and original. The Superior rooms are reasonably-sized but nothing spectacular. Amenities include individual air-conditioning, a fully-stocked mini-bar, free Wi-Fi and a free safe, and room service is available until 11:30pm. The bathrooms come with either a bathtub or a shower. The rates are in the higher bracket for this category of hotel.

    Overview 7.70 /10

The hotel, which is housed in a fine-looking, traditionally Parisian building, makes reference to the film Jules & Jim and to the 50s and 60s. The entrance is topped by light canopies, beyond which lies the spacious lobby, where you'll soon find yourself wrapped up in the soft, distinguished ambience of the place. The decor here really is something special, from the furniture to the light fittings and mirrors, so much so that just making your way to the reception desk is a journey in itself. The bar is open from 7:00am to 11:30pm and serves a selection of soft and alcoholic drinks, whilst the breakfast room is located on the basement level and is very tastefully-decorated and well-appointed. There is also a gym - well, an exercise bike and a treadmill - available to guests at the hotel. There is a public car park 300m away that can be used by guests for an extra charge.

    Food and drink

Like most hotels in Paris, the Jules does not have a restaurant. The breakfast room is located in the basement, which is not ideal, but is another feature quite typical of Parisian hotels. It is decorated in a style reminiscent of a 1950's American 'autogrill' bar, but is more stylish. There is a large mirror with very shiny black edges running the length of the wall, and the tabletops are bright red. We liked the fact that the selection of sugar sachets is the same light blue colour as the façade. The breakfast itself is copious, but the breakfast room is possibly a bit small to cater for all of the guests staying at the hotel.

    To know

At reception, there is a computer that guests may use free of charge. It is presented in a most original way, built into a kind of sphere that has been split in two, one half serving as the chair while the other half supports the screen, keyboard and printer. You can also use the Wi-Fi internet connection, but this comes at an extra cost. Behind this space, you will see mountains of French books piled high, completely at random. The ground-floor bathroom is decorated in a vintage style and also contains lots of books!

This is a hotel full of French style in which no copies or reproductions will be tolerated. The Bristol is one of the few luxury hotels in Paris that belongs to a European family (German) rather than one of the great families of Asia or the United Arab Emirates. Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. Its gourmet restaurant attracts a demanding clientele that is fond of excellent cuisine.

The George V is one of the most prestigious Parisian palaces in the city. You barely have to cross the threshold before realising you are entering a hotel in which luxury, perfection and indulgence are the name of the game. Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
