    Location 6.84 /10

The central location is ideal - you will not need to use public transport, although the district does have an efficient bus and train service, as Place de la Concorde, the big department stores, Place de la Madeleine and Champs Elysées are easy to get to on foot. Faubourg St Honoré street is renowned for its chic restaurants and fashionable boutiques.

    Accommodation 7.35 /10

As soon as you step out of the lift, you will be faced with the stuffy and narrow corridors. As for the 120 guestrooms, they have been renovated several times and are therefore decorated differently from each other, although the recurring theme of the 1930s is always present: wall lights, wooden desks, etc. Despite the renovations, the rooms are a little out of shape, the bathroom rugs are worn, the furniture run-down and the stained-glass windows are a little damaged which is a shame. The standard, superior and deluxe rooms, the junior and regular suites all have individual air-conditioning, a minibar, a safe, double-glazing and a hair-dryer. Keep in mind that not all of the rooms and suites have a flat-screen television, but a CRT set. A little tip: as the hotel does not have many standard rooms, most of the time clients are 'upgraded'.

    Overview 7.45 /10

The hotel is housed in a large building on a major street in Paris, the lobby is not, however, up to the standard and size of the hotel - the reception is set in a little alcove to the right-hand side - too small for its guest capacity. Moreover, not many chairs or armchairs are made available for the waiting guests. The decoration is somewhat dull, with no particular features and all of it is rather outdated. Two conference halls are available with a capacity of 150 guests, but we think that a hotel of this size should at least have a gym. Wireless Internet access is free of charge here.

    Food and drink 7.10 /10

The restaurant and bar are located on the ground floor. The lunch menu is an interesting one as it suggests an affordable option: ?17 for a starter and main course or a main course and dessert served with a pint-sized bottle of water. This meal option is very popular with the locals.

    To know

The bus routes are pleasant although you mustn't be in a rush as the buses may not run on time due to the traffic. Near the hotel, you will find at least five bus lines taking you to the Eiffel tower, the Musée d'Orsay, the district of St Germain and the Opera.

A small boutique property in the heart of the city, the Hôtel du Ministère is a calm oasis of a property combining modern design with hints of the 1950s. It has a nice mix of natural materials throughout and cosy public spaces featuring locally purchased artwork. The 24 rooms are of Parisian size (read small) but they are well equipped and nicely-appointed. With complimentary breakfast and wifi and a helpful, friendly staff, this hotel is recommended rather for couples visiting Paris for the weekend rather than for businesspeople or those on extended stays.

This four-star hotel near the Place de la Concorde and the city's embassies is in an ideal spot for those wishing to explore Paris on foot. In fact, you need go no further than the end of the street if you wish to visit the Louvre, the Jardin des Tuileries or even Place de la Madeleine, on the opposite side of the street. In comparison with other Parisian hotels, the Sofitel Faubourg appealed to us because of the high-quality facilities it offers and the fact that the welcome you'll receive here is worthy of a hotel of a much higher standing. The Faubourg is a trendy place which often plays host to meetings and luncheons held by prestigious brands that have their headquarters on the same street. This being the case, you'll find young executives and tourists rubbing shoulders, giving the hotel a truly cosmopolitan feel.

The Bristol is one of the few luxury hotels in Paris that belongs to a European family (German) rather than one of the great families of Asia or the United Arab Emirates. Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. Its gourmet restaurant attracts a demanding clientele that is fond of excellent cuisine.

Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
