    Location 6.18 /10

The hotel stands on a quiet street in a part of the city which is anything but! Just a stone's throw from Bastille and not far from the République district, with Oberkampf just a few minutes' walk away, you'll find plenty of nightlife here, with hoards of people flocking to the many bars and restaurants, which range from ultra-trendy to the more traditional. The city's 3rd arrondissement and its many museums, not to mention the famous Place des Vosges, is also not too far away, so those who like a little culture won't be disappointed either! The hotel is close to the Cirque d'Hiver and the Bataclan, two of the capital's legendary concert halls, whilst the rather interesting Satellite Cafe bar, just a few metres away in the same street as the hotel, also has a small music venue where live music from around the world, including folk, reggae and Latino, can be enjoyed three nights a week. Again, if you don't fancy venturing too far at night, the Comédie Bastille theatre is also just a few streets away and there's always something fun on the bill here. Both line 9 of the metro system and bus route 96, which runs from the Porte des Lilas to Montparnasse via the dead centre of Paris, stop close to the hotel.

    Accommodation 6.70 /10

All of the rooms here are decorated in the same style and are as low-key and unassuming as the entrance hall is bursting with colour! The red carpets and curtains add a welcome touch of warmth to the otherwise rather cold white walls, not to mention to colourful floral bedspreads! There is little in the way of furniture to clutter up the rooms, with just a desk and a bedside table provided, so you might find you're a little sort on storage when it comes to unpacking your suitcase. The white tiled bathrooms are not the most charming you will have seen but they are nevertheless functional and pretty standard, with many having bathtubs. The rooms come complete with a flat-screen television broadcasting only the French national channels and TNT, but there is no mini-bar or any other noteworthy amenities. The views from the windows are also less than impressive, but then you'll be out exploring the city most of the time anyway.

    Overview 6.20 /10

The rather small hotel is housed in a new building which stands on the corner of the street and can accommodate only 44 guests at a time in its 24 rooms. Despite being quite a quiet establishment, the hotel displays a dashing array of shimmering colours in its decor; indeed, the owners repaint the whole place every year and have really let themselves run wild in the lobby, splashing flashy colours throughout the reception and the breakfast room. The orange, purple and blue walls will certainly shake you awake of a morning! Rest assured, though, that the guest rooms are far more discreet. Unfortunately, the breakfast room is rather on the small side and a little too close to the entrance. Having said that, it is lit by a welcome shaft of natural light, which is a good thing.

Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. Its gourmet restaurant attracts a demanding clientele that is fond of excellent cuisine.

The George V is one of the most prestigious Parisian palaces in the city. You barely have to cross the threshold before realising you are entering a hotel in which luxury, perfection and indulgence are the name of the game. Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
