Hotel De Lausanne Hotel 3 star

This fantastic, exotic little hotel offers a journey back to Roaring Twenties France, what with its 'cabaret' decor, revisited retro look, and little guest rooms packed full of charm, colour and vivacity. We loved it.

The Lausanne is located in a unique, lively, down-to-earth district known for its nightlife. Just next door is the 'Folies Bergère', one of the most prestigious music halls in the world, and one of the oldest too (it opened in 1869). Some of the world's greatest musicians have performed there, and it is still going strong today. Fans of the theatre and shows will find no less than 40 different venues in the area, including the nearby Palace, which stages many successful plays. In the same street as the Lausanne, there is a great little restaurant called 'Les Fils à Maman'. It is sure to catch your attention thanks to its little terrace, pretty dining room and the imagination and originality of the menu. The rest of the district is lively and down-to-earth, and ticks all the boxes when it comes to experiencing the essence of Parisian life. The hotel is close to the Cadet and Grands Boulevards metro stations.

    Accommodation 7.45 /10

The Lausanne's 31 guest rooms are divided into doubles, superior doubles and triples. They are just as fun and original as the communal areas suggest. The decor is informal and there is not a hint of timidity in the owner's daring approach. Indeed, he seems to have had great fun following his instincts here, boldly creating a setting that could be described as a celebration of colour and cheer. The prettiest room is the one under the eaves on the 7th floor, offering a superb view of the Sacré-Coeur. The rooms are all unashamedly decorated in a revisited retro style. They sparkle with pretty, shimmering colours and silky materials. For example, the walls are covered with red or blue fabric adorned with patterns, and antique ornaments are also on show. Each room has its own personality, character and colour scheme, full of energy and extravagance. The bathrooms are pretty, but compared to the bedrooms, they are more standard in appearance and less breathtaking. The rooms are provided with a mini-bar, safe, individual air-conditioning, and flat-screen televisions with lots of international channels.

    Overview 6.70 /10

No sooner have you crossed the threshold than you are in a fantasy world that takes you back in time to the cabaret years. The Lausanne is imprinted with references to this wild, fun-loving time, and all around you are features recalling the festive atmosphere of the period. There are Art Deco windows in the reception, and trompe l'oeil paintings like the thick red curtain behind which the lift is concealed, or the lifelike books stacked up on their shelves. Meanwhile, stained-glass windows light the upstairs landings. Everything is combined to take you, spin you around and turn you upside-down in the warm, cheery ambience of days gone by. The breakfast room has taken up residence in an old tea room to the rear of the hotel. It is decorated in a stylish retro fashion, with paintings on the walls and a very old-fashioned but magnificent chandelier that sums up the spirit of the place. The reddish purple colours and little lounge furnished with velvet empire-style armchairs add a final subtle touch to this appealing and perfectly blended ensemble.

The Bristol is one of the few luxury hotels in Paris that belongs to a European family (German) rather than one of the great families of Asia or the United Arab Emirates. Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. Its gourmet restaurant attracts a demanding clientele that is fond of excellent cuisine.

The George V is one of the most prestigious Parisian palaces in the city. You barely have to cross the threshold before realising you are entering a hotel in which luxury, perfection and indulgence are the name of the game. Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.

The Meurice is an exclusive haunt. the hotel's main restaurant, Le Meurice, is headed by 3 Michelin star Chef Yannick Alléno which is, needless to say, one of the highlights of a stay at the hotel. In a fantastic location right opposite the Jardin des Tuileries, the rooms are tastefully decorated and the service is impeccable.
