Crossing the threshold into the Intercontinental hotel brings you closer to the great historical events the French capital has experienced. Listed as a historical monument and opposite the Opéra, the Intercontinental was opened in 1862 by Offenbach and is one of the most legendary luxury hotels Paris has to offer. Both the staff and the decor reach the kind of standards that will satisfy even the most demanding of guests. The only thing that could be seen as negative is the very formal nature of the welcome. If you do not like the French style of service, you are best off choosing elsewhere.

    Location 9.0 /10

You could not dream of a better geographical location in Paris. The hotel is positioned opposite the Opéra, close to the most sophisticated shopping centres in Paris and no distance at all from the jewellers' shops of the very prestigious Place Vendôme. It is also near to lots of taxi ranks and Opéra metro station, where lines 3 and 7 stop. You can also choose from lots of different bus routes that stop close to the hotel.

    Accommodation 9.70 /10

The guest rooms are decorated in a strictly flamboyant imperial style. The carpets are yellow or blue, the bedspreads velvet, and the rugs are decorated in patterns reminiscent of the 19th century style, just like the furniture itself. Attention has been paid right down to the very last detail. The bathrooms are spacious, and are fitted with very stylish taps. The room itself is undeniably charming, and full of attractive features like the plasma-screen television, internet access, and a splendid view over Boulevard des Capucines, the Opéra or the more peaceful inner courtyard. As far as the amenities are concerned, there is a beauty kit, a hair-dryer, bathrobes and slippers. Described in this way, the place might not sound like much. However, in this establishment, the trappings of luxury are concealed by an appearance of simplicity that is actually no more than an illusion, created in the interests of discretion, to disguise, at least at first glance, what is actually the height of luxury.

    Overview 8.70 /10

The facilities are worthy of the aura of the establishment. The restaurant, Café de la Paix, is another legend in the French capital. It is here that the famous 'mille feuilles' pastry was first created, and if you get the chance, you should really treat yourself to a try, since they are claimed by some to be the best in Paris. The hotel is full of charm, and the flamboyant imperial style of the decor is impressive. The whole place, down to the last detail, seems saturated with French culture. In his novel, 'Nana', Zola chose to have his heroine die in one of the rooms in this hotel, and Victor Hugo had the habit of organising great banquets here. Many peace treaties were also signed in this establishment just after the Second World War. You barely need to scratch the surface to find elements from all of the major periods in French history. Paris's Intercontinental hotel is nevertheless a modern establishment where you can relax in the spa, do some exercise in the gym, or take the time to try one or two of the cocktails prepared at the American bar. Nothing is left to chance here when ensuring that guests at the hotel have everything they need for a perfect stay.

    Food and drink 8.95 /10

Café de la Paix is one of the most famous eating establishments in Paris, where you can dine on typical and refined French cuisine. Don't forget to try the 'mille feuilles', which is the chef's speciality. The French and foreigners alike flock here to try the different flavours.

    To know

It is possible to add an extra bed in some of the guest rooms (for children up to 18 years of age). Guests have privileged access to the club lounge and the meeting rooms. The 'Honeymoon' suite is marvellous.

Staying at this hotel is like taking a journey into history, but also into a typically Parisian atmosphere. It was built in 1861 and originally housed the 'Jockey Club' where the French aristocracy used to come. Today, the Scribe is a resolutely modern establishment that manages to mix elegance and luxury with French charm. In 2007, designer Jacques Grange renovated the hotel with the idea of modernising the establishment while preserving its history. It was quite a challenge, but one that was met with success. The blend of tradition and modernism works perfectly, the building's history having never been highlighted before.

The Citadines Opéra residence is a splendid 4-star establishment. In addition to the facilities usually found in this type of apartment hotel, this establishment offers a high level of comfort and spacious apartments. Tranquility is also a main feature of the residence as all of its flats face a pedestrian street. There is no way of telling in advance what type of apartment you'll be staying in as they come in all shapes and sizes. It should also be noted that most residents stay in the establishment for several months.

Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. Its gourmet restaurant attracts a demanding clientele that is fond of excellent cuisine.

Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
