A small and cosy elegant hotel not far from the Golden Triangle area, the Burgundy offers luxury service in a warm and refined atmosphere. It is ideal for families but also couples who have come to enjoy a romantic getaway in the French capital. A little nod to fans of cognac, you will be spoilt for choice here. Here's how the owner defines the hotel: "Contemporary luxury in respect of the past." We'll leave you to judge...

    Location 7.0 /10

The Burgundy hotel has a fabulous location, just a few steps from the Madeleine Church and a few minutes from the Madeleine metro station. Place Vendôme is not far off either, meaning it is very easy to get around Paris from here, thanks to the metro and the many taxis present in this district. The St Lazare train station is just one metro stop away, or 10-15 minutes on foot.

    Accommodation 8.70 /10

Before the renovations were done, the hotel had 89 guest rooms, but today, the entirely new Burgundy has only 59 guest rooms and suites. All of the rooms are decorated in the same modern, refined and welcoming style. Just the colours and the tissues vary. Cosy armchairs, modern glass and chrome desks, heavy curtains? the atmosphere here is very peaceful. Those who love books with illustrations and photos will be delighted to know that they will find some in all of the rooms. Some of the rooms (and not just the suites and deluxe rooms) even have a beautiful furnished terrace. The bathroom is equipped with a bathtub and/or shower and follows the sober and sophisticated style of the rest of the establishment. The Wi-Fi is free throughout the entire hotel, including the guest rooms.

    Overview 8.95 /10

The building this hotel occupies dates from the 19th century and has previously served as a guesthouse and another hotel. French investors purchased this, at the time, 3-star hotel in 2008. After two years of renovations, the 5-star Burgundy hotel opened in summer 2010. The name was preserved but no one really knows where it came from (for example, Burgundy in French is Bourgogne). A quick little anecdote regarding the hotel; this is where Baudelaire's parents sold his furniture when he died in 1867. That's why you will find various references to the author of 'The Flowers of Evil' here and there in the hotel, notably in some of the cocktails: Spleen, les Fleurs de Mal, etc., but also in a few works of art exhibited in the establishment, some of which really bring the melancholic poet to mind. It's true that the owners have a very particular fondness for art and therefore throughout the hotel you will discover paintings, sculptures and other works of art.

The small and discreet reception is immediately on your right when you enter. On the other side of the entrance you will find a cosy and friendly-sized bar (Le Baudelaire) where cognac is the star of show and is highlighted in various formats: cocktails, beautiful bottles, etc. It is possible to taste the different cognacs if you like and choose which one from the more than 50 different kinds will be used in your cocktail. Our recommendation, the mojito with cognac is excellent. The hotel even has its own cognac, Le Burgundy.

Skylights and a winter garden lead the way to the restaurant. It holds a grand piano and pastries are served here at tea time. The modern but cosy decor creates a sort of feeling of tranquillity. Shades of brown, black, beige and grey are very present. This gives it an elegant and luxurious aspect.

A spa in the basement opens onto a beautiful heated swimming pool in which you can swim a few lengths. A hammam, sauna or whirlpool bath will be just the thing you need after a day exploring the City of Light. You may also want to take advantage of the massages and treatments offered. Small but charming, the spa and its swimming pool will delight all those looking to relax in a peaceful setting.

    Food and drink 9.20 /10

The only restaurant, The Baudelaire, boasts an open-air terrace. It has a brasserie-like corner but also some quieter spots. It is of course possible to eat on the patio depending on the weather. The decoration is chic and sober, with a focus on browns and beiges. The cuisine can be defined as fresh market cuisine using local products (producers from the Ile de France region) and others from all over France. There is a beautiful wine cellar with some exceptional bottles. At midday, you can choose from a set menu or à la carte. A snack menu is available in the winter garden all day long.

    To know

It is possible to hire a bicycle if you wish to discover Paris from it's bike paths (you won't be alone!). And for lunch, a picnic basket with champagne will be brought to you in one of the capital's parks. Children will feel welcome with the little details specially thought out for them, like adapted hospitality products. Also, it is possible to borrow video games and DVDs.

The hotel staff is rude and unprofessional. We checked into the hotel on August 17 at 8 PM. The room we were provided with was dirty and even the bathrobes and towels were dirty. We had to wait at the bar for the room to be cleaned. The receptionist was very rude. And the room was for people with disabilities . This is worth warning !

This is a stunning hotel located in a historical district. Its proximity to la Concorde and les Tuileries is a major asset and the hotel is a good starting point to enjoy a beautiful stroll through the gardens that will take you to the nicest monuments in Paris. The Richepanse has a lot of character as it is one of the rare Art Déco hotels of the capital. It is worth your while to spend some time examining the details of the rooms' interior decor.

In a part of Paris bristling with Palaces and some of the most grandiose and reputed hotels in the world, the Hôtel Cambon is a bit of an exception. It is a small hotel, more intimate and personal than its prestigious neighbours on Place Vendôme, Place de la Concorde and rue de Rivoli. The originality of the artistic decor that features throughout is a winner, with contemporary and more classic paintings hung on all the walls and in all the rooms.

This modern and luxurious 4 star establishment is a wonderfully charming place. The new decor scheme at the hotel is a harmonious combination of modern style and tradition, a lone reflection of what makes Paris the eternal city of history and romance that it is, all while keeping with the times. The function rooms at the hotel are a fine example of the sumptuous surroundings it has provided since it was first opened. Indeed, Victor Hugo, the man responsible for Les Misérables, celebrated his 80th birthday in the breathtaking Impérial Salon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
