    Location 7.3 /10

The hotel is located in the heart of Paris, in the very chic 8th arrondissement, just a short distance from place St Augustin. Although the district does have an efficient bus and train service, you will not need to use public transport as the Opera, the big department stores, Place de la Madeleine and la Concorde are easy to get to on foot. This is a bustling business district that calms down in the evening, so you can go and enjoy the brasseries and restaurants. These are made all the more convenient by the fact that the hotel does not have a restaurant.

    Accommodation 7.70 /10

Out of 30 rooms, 25 are in the superior category. There are 3 junior suites and one suite as well as one superior room with a terrace. They range between 247 and 430 square feet, depending on the category. Each includes a flat-screen TV, individual air-conditioning and double glazing. However, there is no mini-bar, as the hotel has its own bar, open to all. The bathrooms are very simply decorated but they all include a bathtub and a shower, a hair-dryer and bathrobes. Some of the junior suites and the suite have a balneotherapy tub. Each room is intimate, as is the general atmosphere of the hotel, and will make you feel like you're in a real home from home.

    Overview 7.85 /10

The establishment is owned by a small Parisian group; the customised welcome iconstitutes one of the hotel's main advantages. The reception area includes a desk where members of staff take the time to answer any questions the guests may have. More than half of the customers are regular guests. The hotel's interior decorating was the work of Jean-Philippe Nuel, at the beginning of his career back in 1999. He chose a neo-classical style with a large leather sofa, a black gloss table and classic armchairs with stripy upholstering. In one corner, slightly out of the way, there is the library and an honesty bar where guests help themselves. On the floor below, the breakfast room is a small but charming place where an improved version of the continental breakfast is served, with bacon and eggs. There is an extra charge for Wi-Fi access (and the web corner), but it costs only 5? for an unlimited duration.

    To know

The manager of the hotel has a blog (that bears the same name as the hotel). It could do with more regular updates but it provides some good tips for eating out, shopping, etc. It is also possible to arrange for transport from the airport.

A small boutique property in the heart of the city, the Hôtel du Ministère is a calm oasis of a property combining modern design with hints of the 1950s. It has a nice mix of natural materials throughout and cosy public spaces featuring locally purchased artwork. The 24 rooms are of Parisian size (read small) but they are well equipped and nicely-appointed. With complimentary breakfast and wifi and a helpful, friendly staff, this hotel is recommended rather for couples visiting Paris for the weekend rather than for businesspeople or those on extended stays.

This is a hotel full of French style in which no copies or reproductions will be tolerated. The Bristol is one of the few luxury hotels in Paris that belongs to a European family (German) rather than one of the great families of Asia or the United Arab Emirates. Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. Its gourmet restaurant attracts a demanding clientele that is fond of excellent cuisine.

The George V is one of the most prestigious Parisian palaces in the city. You barely have to cross the threshold before realising you are entering a hotel in which luxury, perfection and indulgence are the name of the game. Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
