The Meurice is one of Paris's best addresses. With its contemporary yet quintessentially Parisian décor realised by great names such as Stark and his daughter. The Meurice is an exclusive haunt. the hotel's main restaurant, Le Meurice, is headed by 3 Michelin star Chef Yannick Alléno which is, needless to say, one of the highlights of a stay at the hotel. In a fantastic location right opposite the Jardin des Tuileries, the rooms are tastefully decorated and the service is impeccable.

    Location 7.5 /10

The Meurice is in a prime location, right in the 1st district of Paris, which is the most prized area of the city by far. Right in the heart of the capital, the hotel is situated between the Tuileries and the Louvre, making it an ideal place to stay for Paris Fashion-Week-goers. The Champs Elysées are a five minute walk away and the Seine lies just on the other side of the Tuileries. This part of town is a vibrant area which is what many regard as the ?real' Paris. It can however, like with many central areas of the city, seem a little deserted in the evenings, but the Champs are not far and the Tuileries metro station (line 1) couldn't be nearer for finding a variety of nightlife entertainment.

    Accommodation 9.20 /10

The rooms are large and the décor is refined and elegant; the flair for style counterbalances the razzle-dazzle side of the silver furniture and soft furnishings. It is needles to mention that all rooms have all the expected mod-cons. It is clear that every detail has been paid attention to with particular emphasis on the wide range of fabrics used all around the hotel (over 170!) . The decoration of the rooms changes according to the floor; for example all rooms on the first floor are in a Louis 16th style, complete with mantle piece and Versailles flooring. The second and third floors are dedicated mainly to a business clientele; here the rooms are spacious enough to have a well functioning office space for example. Towards the top floors the interior becomes a little more akin to Parisian style which would better suit a residential clientele. Every room is different but exquisitely decorated. The best room in the hotel is the 'Belle Etoile' which consists in a 275m² penthouse with a terrace boasting a 360° view of Paris.

    Overview 9.20 /10

The lobby is relatively small for a hotel of this reputation, but it leads to the high-ceilinged, large dining room. A father-daughter combo, the restaurant and lobby underwent the Starck treatment, father and daughter. Starck daughter, Ara, designed a fauvist painting to replace the glass domed ceiling of the restaurant. The painting weighs 250kg and took 5 months to complete. Starck, the father, busied himself with the design of the 600 items of furniture for the dining area, which are typical of his sleek, quirky style; the visitor will not be disappointed to find dining chairs with swan arms or table lamps with drawers which marks a direct link to Dali's paintings. The hotel is at the height of luxury - one of the obvious signs is the 'advertising' that decorates the corridors; Chanel perfume bottles or Tiffany watches are on show in free-standing glass cabinets. The objects look like a magazine advert only in 3D - an innovative idea nonetheless.

    Food and drink 9.90 /10

The hotel has two restaurants: le Meurice, headed by 3 Michelin star Chef Yannick Alléno which is one of the highlights of a stay at the hotel. There is also the Starck-designed restraurant, Le Dali. It is an immense pleasure to lunch or dine at the Le Meurice - Alléno's cuisine is highly commended for being refined and varied whilst recalling various regions of France. There are two main menus: "Terrroir Parisien" (90 Euros) and the "Menu dégustation" (220 Euros). The restaurant is open from 12.30pm-2pm and from 7.30pm-10pm Monday-Friday. The décor of the restaurant is nothing short of elegant and exclusive like the rest of the hotel; however whilst the rest of the hotel has been made more contemporary, the Le Meurice restaurant has remained in a Louis XVIII style which recalls Versailles. With its golden mouldings, marble columns, bronze and crystal chandeliers, the restaurant invites the guest to an atemporal experience. There is also the Dali restaurant where everything recalls the world of the surrealist artist, and the cosy Bar 228 (open 12pm-2pm), where guests can enjoy a quiet drink. The Dali's menu has been conceived by Alléno; the food is a little simpler and faster to eat. The Dali is open from 7am-11pm every day.

    To know

The Meurice is without a doubt one of Paris's best known top luxury hotels. Part of the Dorchester Collection, the décor of the hotel doesn't let down the visitor. The lobby, bar and Le Dali restaurant, named after the painter who very frequently stayed and even lived at the hotel for months on end between the 50s and 80s, have been entirely revamped by Philippe Starck in 2007, giving the hotel the quirky edge it needed to bring it into the 21st century. At the time of its opening, in 1835, the Meurice was to be an exclusive haunt for the English high society staying in Paris. The Meurice has since welcomed countless rich and famous guests such as Prince Charles, President Roosevelt, Salvador Dali and the Rockafellers. The reputation of the hotel aside, the Meurice also boasts a Velmont spa, which is extremely professional and pleasant.

This modern and luxurious 4 star establishment is a wonderfully charming place. The new decor scheme at the hotel is a harmonious combination of modern style and tradition, a lone reflection of what makes Paris the eternal city of history and romance that it is, all while keeping with the times. The function rooms at the hotel are a fine example of the sumptuous surroundings it has provided since it was first opened. Indeed, Victor Hugo, the man responsible for Les Misérables, celebrated his 80th birthday in the breathtaking Impérial Salon.

Right from the moment you step foot inside and are greeted by the smiling porters you'll feel as though you are the most important guest. In a part of Paris bristling with Palaces and some of the most grandiose and reputed hotels in the world, the Hôtel Cambon is a bit of an exception. It is a small hotel, more intimate and personal than its prestigious neighbours on Place Vendôme, Place de la Concorde and rue de Rivoli. The originality of the artistic decor that features throughout is a winner, with contemporary and more classic paintings hung on all the walls and in all the rooms.

Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.

Listed as a historical monument and opposite the Opéra, the Intercontinental was opened in 1862 by Offenbach and is one of the most legendary luxury hotels Paris has to offer. Both the staff and the decor reach the kind of standards that will satisfy even the most demanding of guests. The only thing that could be seen as negative is the very formal nature of the welcome. If you do not like the French style of service, you are best off choosing elsewhere.
