    Location 7.75 /10

The Astor Saint-Honoré Hotel is located in the 8th arrondissement and, as home to the Champs Elysées and many of the biggest fashion houses in the world, it is one of the most stylish arrondissements in the French capital. A few minutes on foot will take you to the Madeleine church and the renowned Opéra Garnier. The hotel is on a small, relatively isolated side street all the while being close to some of Paris's largest boulevards and neighbourhoods with their luxury boutiques. The Jardin des Tuileries, the Place de la Concorde, and the Louvre are all easily accessible with the metro, or you can make your way there on foot if walking is your thing. Around a ten-minute walk will take you to the bus stop where a shuttle service provides links to the Charles de Gaulle airport, and for Orly airport, all you have to do is take the RER.

    Accommodation 8.70 /10

The hotel's 128 guest rooms are divided across 7 floors, all linked by 2 elevators. These rooms vary in size, facilities, and colours, but the style stays the same: classic and elegant. One thing they do have in common: the stripes, in a range of shades, which embellish the wallpaper, the curtains, and the bedspreads. There is a choice of colours for you to choose from: some rooms are decorated in a dark red, pale grey, and white, others are more fresh, with lilac tones and cream-coloured furnishings, while others are full of shades of old pink. The resulting style is one that is not exactly modern-looking, but rather admired by a more mature clientele. At 15m², the Classic rooms aren't very big. If an additional 5m² would do the trick, then you should ask for a Superior room. Neither of these basic categories offer a flat-screen television, but they do, nevertheless, provide a choice of more than 30 satellite channels. A few additional extras, including a free bottle of water and bathrobes, will surely be appreciated, as much by guests of the standard rooms as those who can afford a suite. However, only in the deluxe rooms and Junior suites will guests find Carven products to pamper themselves, in the bathrooms that don't offer much charm but are decorated with orchids. In the two most luxurious categories you will also be provided with a stereo system, a flat-screen television and a small sitting area with a sofa and coffee table. The larger Junior suites have a welcome tray with tea and coffee making facilities. The rooms themselves are generally bright and either look out over a courtyard or onto the street (which can be a little noisy). If a view over the rooftops of Paris is right up your street, ask for a room on the 6th floor, in the section where the building grows narrower. Finally, a genuine little gem in the hotel, and thus reserved for the special few that can afford the colossal rates: the Governor's suite, which takes up the entire 7th floor and enjoys an incredible view over the city, with the Eiffel Tower peaking out over the rooftops. If you have a minute to daydream, imagine a luxurious two room apartment with a small bar area, a bedroom, and a large terrace with deckchairs.

    Overview 8.45 /10

The Astor Saint-Honoré Hotel has recently celebrated its centenary. Its opened in 1907, when a rich English lord fell in love with the building and decided to transform the old private residence into a hotel and name it after himself. The establishment is centred around a courtyard, the view of which is shared by many of the rooms. On the white and somewhat curved walls surrounding this courtyard, you can see reproductions of a coat of arms sculpted on a sky-blue background, which conjures up an aura of bygone days. Don't be scared though: even though the hotel was founded a very long time ago and there is a certain aesthetic reminiscent of the old English style, know that all of the rooms and communal areas were renovated in 1996 by Fréderic Méchiche, a successful French interior designer. The underlying feature found in the decoration in all of the rooms is the stripes: painted on filtered and autumnal colours, they give life to the walls, armchairs, and bedspreads. Absolutely nothing negative can be said about the hotel's elegant lobby. It has wood-covered walls (the same as in the reception area) and sofas in shades of brown, and there are flower arrangements placed all about the place. The doors and windows looking onto the street, accentuated by mirrors that have been placed all around, fill this area with natural light.

    Food and drink 8.45 /10

In the dining room, oblique lines liven up the cream-coloured surface of the columns and art deco ceiling. The end result is a very light and pure, alternating with the pink and red tones of the curtains, tablecloths, and chairs, creating a decor that remains loyal to the classic and sober style of the hotel. Open in the evenings from 7:30pm to 10:00pm, the restaurant serves typically French gastronomic cuisine that is refined and boasts quality ingredients, all created by chef David Mansard. If you're feeling a little peckish during the day, make your way to the hotel bar, where you will find genuine English-style decor sheltered in a cocoon-like ambiance, created by colourful and diffused lighting. At lunchtime, the menu is the same as the one offered for room service, with snacks and simple dishes all made by the chef. From 3:00pm to 6:00pm, it's time to enjoy a hot drink and a homemade pastry!

    To know

As you arrive, one of the employees will help you with the door, closing it behind you, and another will see to your bags. If you need advice about which exhibitions to see or where to dine, the concierge service is extremely knowledgeable in these matters and, as such, is held in high regard by guests of the hotel for his efficiency and familiarity with the city. Standing on the wood tables and furnishings in the lobby you will see various statues that have been made using all kinds of materials: marble, alabaster, bronze, granite... These have all been individually handcrafted by French artist Anne Podbielski and note that they are...for sale!

It has a nice mix of natural materials throughout and cosy public spaces featuring locally purchased artwork. The 24 rooms are of Parisian size (read small) but they are well equipped and nicely-appointed. With complimentary breakfast and wifi and a helpful, friendly staff, this hotel is recommended rather for couples visiting Paris for the weekend rather than for businesspeople or those on extended stays.

Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
