    Location 8.32 /10

    8/10
The Montpensier hotel is located in Rue de Richelieu, in one of Paris' nicer neighbourhoods in the 1st arrondissement. The end of the street opens onto Place André Maraux, which lies next to Place de Carrousel, and therefore the Louvre. The famous museum is therefore at the gates of the hotel. Also nearby is Opéra Garnier and metro lines 1, 7, and 14, so you have easy access to all of the most important parts of the city, including Bastille, the Champs Elysées, Place d'Italie, and the Gare du Nord train station. If you feel like a morning run to get off to a good start, you'll enjoy the green expanse of the Jardin des Tuileries.

    Accommodation 5.95 /10

The accommodation ranges from single rooms to quadruples. The latter, with two beds next to each other are a bit small and crammed. All of the rooms are decorated in a slightly different manner. Some boast bright colours such as blue, whereas other, simpler ones, are done in light shades of beige and light tones. The general aspect of the rooms is decent enough, but you shouldn't expect anything outwardly original and modern. Everything looks a bit quaint and seems to appeal to a now-defunct sense of romanticism. Only the bathrooms, brand new and renovated with modern white and grey tiling, add a feeling of renewal and youth to this lacklustre hotel.

    Overview 6.20 /10

True enough, the Montpensier stands in a nice neighbourhood that is centrally-located, crammed with tourist sights, and close to the wealthy and cultural part of Paris, but the hotel is altogether blighted by its dull and old-fashion aspect. Admittedly, this is a friendly and well kept establishment, but it lacks the humpf, that little 'je ne sais quoi' that would make it stand out among its neighbours. At the end of the hall, the breakfast room, furnished with a few red tables, is not in one of the nicer parts of the hotel. In one corner, there is a sofa in lieu of a sitting room, which is not totally unpleasant, but not totally inviting either. However, it's not a place where you'd relax for hours on end. In short, we are in two minds about this place: it bathes in a tepid atmosphere, trying to be chic without really succeeding, and strives to be charming but achieves only normality.

It offers excellent services, and oozes class and refinement. It is also home to a fine brasserie with a mouth-watering menu created by a famous chef, and a bar that offers a particularly intimate and cosy setting.

Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. The George V is one of the most prestigious Parisian palaces in the city. You barely have to cross the threshold before realising you are entering a hotel in which luxury, perfection and indulgence are the name of the game. Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
