    Location 7.23 /10

The Pavillon de la Reine enjoys a simply exceptional setting, under the arches of Place des Vosges, one of Paris's most agreeable squares, chic and peaceful, with a garden ideal for strolls. Other than that, it is at the crossroads of several famous and dynamic districts of the centre of Paris. Between the 3rd, 4th and 11th arrondissements, making it just as easy to access the night life of the city as to explore the cultural highlights beloved of tourists. To one side unfolds the Marais, with its museums (Picasso, Carnavalet, Beaubourg) and narrow lanes down to the river Seine. To another side are the liveliest districts of the capital, with the bars of Oberkampf and the watering holes around Place de Bastille and its maze of alleys bursting with restaurants, all kinds and clubs, and friendly pubs. There is also plenty to explore further afield, and thanks to the nearby Place de la Bastille and Place de la République, which are served by the main metro lines, you can get just about anywhere else in the city with a minimum of fuss.

    Accommodation 7.70 /10

The ancient building has retained its classicism, while admirably integrating fashionable materials and refined decors, using a modern interpretation of retro wallpaper, Empire-style furniture, chandeliers, four-poster beds, blending in with contemporary colours, cheerful patterns and original bathrooms. Some of the guestrooms have been fitted with items chosen or belonging to the lady who owns the hotel, such as chandeliers for example. The guestrooms are divided into 6 categories, which include 7 duplex rooms, and display a typically French classical decor with an interpretation of old-style wallpaper, beams on the ceiling and net curtains. The rooms are extremely cosy and warm-looking, decorated in shades of grey and taupe, purple and mauve or red and black depending on the room. Some half-timber walls emphasize the grandeur of this place. The bathrooms are the link between modernity and old style, where antique bathtubs and furniture with wrought-iron stands encounter modern-design washbasins. Amenities include a minibar, a safe, a hifi system, a flat screen television and individual air-conditioning.

    Overview 7.45 /10

The Pavillon de la Reine is housed in an old building at the end of an inner courtyard, which opens out onto the arches of Place des Vosges. The stately and graceful stone building has two lounges - one is used as a breakfast room, where guests can be comfortably seated in one of the snug sofas. The ambiance is like that of the library of a chateau or a distinguished manor house, but with a fashionable touch to it. This is the type of hotel where guests feel extremely sophisticated, in a delicate and modern world, highlighted by the uncommon selection of colours and cutting-edge decorative patterns. Without ever disowning the antique shell of the building, prestigious by its architecture, the Pavillon de la Reine is a bubbling, ambitious and powerfully successful mixture of old and modern styles, of traditional and contemporary decors. A very spacious spa is available in the hotel basement: it consists of two massage rooms, a gym, a jacuzzi and a hammam for both men and women, decorated in a stony shade of grey, enough to relax after a hard day spent exploring Paris.

    To know

The Pavillon de la Reine welcomes their guests with a relationship based on trust: in the bar, reserved to hotel guests only, guests help themselves to drinks and write what they took on their bill themselves - as this is a respectable place, this works well.

      • Disavantages

L'atmosphère et la décoration particulière peuvent décourager certains, ne pas s'attendre à un design made in Alessi.

The special decor in this hotel is inspired by a hunting theme and the spirit of Provence, but also exudes the fresh lightness of all chain hotels. The hotel does not have a restaurant but it is close to the Bastille, which boasts a wide variety of sophisticated and more down-to-earth eateries. The delightful Place des Vosges is also nearby, so the location is ideal for exploring Paris via the little alleyways of the Marais.

The Bristol is one of the few luxury hotels in Paris that belongs to a European family (German) rather than one of the great families of Asia or the United Arab Emirates. Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. Its gourmet restaurant attracts a demanding clientele that is fond of excellent cuisine.

The George V is one of the most prestigious Parisian palaces in the city. You barely have to cross the threshold before realising you are entering a hotel in which luxury, perfection and indulgence are the name of the game. Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
