This is a decent 4 star establishment with slightly eastern decorative influences. It is the perfect setting if you are looking for calm and comfort in an ideal location to visit the city.

    Location 8.03 /10

The hotel is located in a neighbourhood crammed with theatres and boutiques, however, the Pavillon de Paris is relatively far from the city's main tourist attractions. The metro isn't too far though, with Jacques Bonsergent station on line 5. A few changes and a 10 minute ride will take you to the Louvre, the Galeries Lafayette, the Arc de Triomphe, the Pigalle neighbourhood, and Montmartre. You can also quickly get to the Canal Saint-Martin on foot, which is lined with cafés, brasseries, and nightclubs, and is a popular hangout for the local youth. Finally, it's also very close to the Gare de l'Est train station but public transport is not the best solution to get to the airports. You're better off taking the metro to the Gare du Nord train station and then RER line B that takes you to Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports.

    Accommodation 8.20 /10

The Pavillon de Paris isn't exactly a big hotel. It has 30 guest rooms spread out over 6 storeys: these come as single, double, or twin units. They are luxurious and elegant, in a vaguely dated 90s style, but are cruelly lacking in space. For the interior decorating, dark wood and white and beige fabrics (bedding and curtains) were chosen. The result is modern and stylish but sometimes a bit austere, with old TV sets that stand out like a sore thumb. We particularly appreciated the firm cushions upholstered into the headboards, which are very comfortable if you want to sit up in bed to read or watch TV. The rooms are nicely lit and include a large window, except for the ones on the top floor, which boast a mansard roof and slanted walls with an alcove for the window and desk. We also liked the bathrooms, which are well kept and feature a dark marble wash basin and beige tiling. The hospitality products by 'Pascal Morabito' are another sign of true class. If you would like to have a balcony, you have to book one of the 4 rooms on the 5th floor. The others will have to make do with a street- or courtyard-view.

    Overview 7.70 /10

Once inside, one is immediately struck by the unusual reception desk: it looks like a large cube topped with a golden rectangle, creating the impression of a gilded tray thanks to the colourful and dimmed lighting. This blend of pure shapes, albeit slightly snobbish, is perfectly well executed and true to the style of the hotel, which was inaugurated in 1999; it's a semi-independant hotel that belongs to a small French group of around 15 establishments. The sitting room area, to the right of reception, focuses on art, design, and eastern influences, creating a half-luxurious half new-age setting. It's divided into two areas, with slightly different styles. In the first, which is well-lit thanks to the proximity of the window, there is a beige sofa covered with two decorative drapes that fall parallel to the two cushions resting on the back of the sofa, thus recreating the minimalist scene depicted in the modern painting hanging over it. Everything appears both elegant and sturdy, and it seems no expense was spared on the interior decorating. A statue of Buddha, placed on the window sill of an internal partition wall, appears to welcome you into the second room that houses the bar. The atmosphere here is more muffled and intimate. The red-based decoration includes a series of unusual black and white photos of Paris hanging on a series of mirrors. The bar is staffed by the reception personnel, which is often the case in urban hotels, but from 3:00pm to 11:00pm there is a proper barman.

    Food and drink

The Pavillon de Paris does not have a restaurant, but we were very impressed by the level of care taken in preparing the breakfast. There is a wide choice of jams served in little cups, as well as pastries, cereal, orange juice, cheese, fruit, and hot beverages. We also appreciated the choice of products as well as the room with its glass ceiling letting in floods of natural light. The colours range from light to dark tones, with brown wooden benches, blue cushions, and white tiled walls. The setting is designed to make you feel as if you were having breakfast in your own kitchen. Room service is available from 12:30pm to 2:30pm and from 7:30pm to 10:30pm, with a menu of international dishes.

The Bristol is one of the few luxury hotels in Paris that belongs to a European family (German) rather than one of the great families of Asia or the United Arab Emirates. Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. Its gourmet restaurant attracts a demanding clientele that is fond of excellent cuisine.

The George V is one of the most prestigious Parisian palaces in the city. You barely have to cross the threshold before realising you are entering a hotel in which luxury, perfection and indulgence are the name of the game. Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
