Hotel Pullman Paris Montparnasse is a large building in the shadow of the Montparnasse train station. Despite the fact that the exterior is far from inviting, all the necessary steps have been taken to give the interior the level of comfort expected by the Pullman brand. The hotel is characterised by the contemporary design of it lobby, its central location, its proximity to the railway station, and its level of comfort following international standards. It is mostly frequented by guests on business, but it also accommodates families or couples visiting Paris.

    Location 5.65 /10

The hotel is ideally located beside the Montparnasse train station. Four metro lines (No. 4 to the Notre-Dame Cathedral, No. 12 to the Musée d'Orsay and Pigalle, No. 6 to the Eiffel Tower and No. 13 to Les Invalides) bring tourists directly to the various sights of Paris and a walk down the nearby Rue de Rennes leads to Saint-Germain-des-Prés (allow at least twenty minutes). Opposite the hotel, Air France shuttle buses provide regular service to Orly and Roissy Charles de Gaulle airports (allow 30 minutes to Orly and 90 minutes to Roissy CDG).

    Accommodation 7.70 /10

The Pullman has a total of 953 guest rooms, thankfully there are 16 lifts to get to them! Since the building was designed as a hotel from the very beginning, the rooms are organised in square blocks and each category has its own dimensions: 25-26m² for the standard rooms and 30m² for the executive rooms; more than satisfactory for a Parisian hotel.

The furniture is identical in all of the rooms but a certain indifference can be seen in the decor, as certain details are in need of renovating. The bathrooms are not much better: with a sort of striped marble, the decor here is a far cry from the contemporary lines of the reception counter.

As for the view, it is nothing special. Although the hotel is located in the city centre, we have more views of the modern buildings around the Montparnasse train station than the roofs of Paris. None of the rooms offers views of the Eiffel Tower, despite its close proximity, only the Sacré-Cœur can be seen from some of the suites. One side of the hotel overlooks the cemetery, which is not exactly ideal, despite being the resting place of some great French poets like Charles Baudelaire.

    Overview 7.70 /10

24 floors served by 16 lifts: compared to some of the minuscule hotels in Paris, the Pullman does things in a big way. Of course, it is best to avoid some comparisons, as the hotel is after all part of the Starwood chain of hotels. It has 3 entrances: a main entrance, an entrance for groups, and a third entrance leading directly to the conference rooms.

The lobby is particularly modern and spacious. Around the sides of the lobby are semi-circular seating areas where business travellers or local businesspeople hold meetings. The reception and concierge staff are attentive (the hotel is proud of its 'Les Clefs d'Or' (Golden Key) label, a professional association of hotel concierges that originated in France in 1929), but as they are often overworked, you may need to wait your turn a bit.

    Food and drink 8.20 /10

The Pullman Paris Montparnasse had two restaurants until July 2010, the Montparnasse 25 and Justine, but the M25, which was highly praised in the Michelin guide due to economic burdens.

The Justine is on 'level A', where all the restaurants are located, and has a sunny veranda overlooking an interior garden. It is a pleasant place to eat, flooded with plenty of natural light, even on rainy days, although it does not provide a view over the city. The decor is straight-up modern with geometric lines and dark colours.

The buffet in the centre of the room offers an American breakfast. For the rest, Chef Jean-Luc Reymond delights in preparing 100% Parisian cuisine, endeavouring to bring the 'eco-friendly' policy of the hotel to the table for the buffet lunch and à la carte dinner. However, the desserts are the piece de resistance of the restaurant. In the kitchen is Gerard Biscaut, who has been a pastry chef at Le Meridien for 20 years. What do you think is this old master chocolate maker's specialty? Chocolate macaroons, of course! In fact, twice a year, Chef Jean-Luc Reymond and Pastry Chef Gerard Biscaut collaborate to create a menu consisting entirely of macaroons as a tribute to this French speciality.

Like all fashionable institutions, the Pullman Paris Montparnasse also organises a Sunday Brunch. A unique feature of this brunch is the entertainment provided especially for children. Known as Baby Brunch , facilitators look after the little ones while parents enjoy their meal. Baby Sunday Brunch happens every Sunday from September to June, from 12:15pm to 3:00pm.

    To know

Built in 1974; the structure was bought by the Meridian Group in 1986, then by Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide in 2005, until finally becoming a Pullman hotel in 2011. With a total of 953 guest rooms, along with the Hotel Lutetia, it is one of the largest hotels on the Left Bank of the river Seine.

In January 2010, the hotel became a 'Green Key' hotel, an official eco-label that certifies efforts made by companies to protect the environment. Certain requirements must be met in order to obtain certification, such as the use of energy-efficient light bulbs, waste recycling, and reduced water consumption in showers and baths.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
