Amy Adejokun Section editor

This establishment boasts the colours and the typically-Scandinavian sobriety that has become the trademark of this hotel group. Nothing is overdone, everything remains discrete, which comes as a relief in this kind of neighbourhood. It's the perfect address for couples who want to enjoy the pleasures of the city.

    Location 6.52 /10

The hotel enjoys a perfect location on Avenue Marceau, between the 8th and 16th arrondissements. The neighbourhood offers good access to various means of transport (bus, metro and RER), but you can also discover the many advantages of the district on foot.

    Accommodation 9.34 /10

The hotel's 46 rooms are decorated in a the same Scandinavian style: dark and honey-coloured wood, neutral tones, refined design with no embellishment, comfort is privileged... However, the rooms lack some character. The rooms come in four categories: deluxe, business class, with a view, and the junior suite. Business class rooms offer interesting facilities: with approximately 25 sq-meters (vs. 20 sq-meters for deluxe rooms), they include breakfast, one movie (pay-TV) and the newspaper of your choice, as well as a Nespresso machine in your room. The rooms with a view are in reality deluxe rooms with a balcony that looks out onto the Arc de Triomphe or the Eiffel Tower. If you want something slightly out of the ordinary for your hotel room, go for the junior suite. It includes a 30 sq-meter terrace and a jacuzzi in the bathroom! As per the policies of the Radisson group, the hotel implements a sustainable development strategy by taking specific actions (low consumption light bulbs, laundry service upon request), in which guests are gently involved; during check-out, the opportunity is also given to guests to donate ?1 to an association (the latest association was the Kremlin-Bicêtre hospital).

    Overview 8.50 /10

Formerly a Vuitton store, the hotel opened in 2002. Everything is well-kept and tidy. However, some renovation work in the communal areas are planned for 2011. The hotel houses a small conference room that can seat up to 14 people. This room benefits from natural light and direct access to the outside (restaurant's terrace). The interior is pleasant, making abundant use of wood and discrete colours and staying very simple. Management makes a particular effort by putting fresh flowers all around the place. However, there are no sporting facilities (and no Turkish baths or sauna) in the hotel.

    Food and drink 7.35 /10

As soon as guests enter the lobby, the enticing armchairs in the bar invite them to enjoy a relaxing drink. The bar is particularly cosy, and is a place where both hotel guests and local residents come for a quick bite to eat (small menu, service 24 hours a day). Just behind it there is the hotel's restaurant, La Place. The chef is Didier Pioline, who reinvents traditional dishes in a "creative gourmet" style, where only the freshest and best products are used. The restaurant has a discrete terrace that gives onto rue Vernet, a calm and little-frequented street. The atmosphere in the restaurant changes depending on the time of the day; it's a bustling place at lunch time, when all the neighbourhood's business customers come to eat, and quite calm in the evenings when hotel guests come to relax after a gruelling day. However the restaurant is closed on Saturdays and Sundays.

    To know

For a fee, guests have access to the hotel's private car park, which is very convenient in a neighbourhood where parking can rapidly turn to nightmare. Not mentioning the fact that Parisians have adopted a rather unique way of driving! Our advice is therefore to leave your car at the hotel's parking lot and to use public transport or even taxis.

Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. Its gourmet restaurant attracts a demanding clientele that is fond of excellent cuisine.

The George V is one of the most prestigious Parisian palaces in the city. You barely have to cross the threshold before realising you are entering a hotel in which luxury, perfection and indulgence are the name of the game. Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
