    Location 6.58 /10

The hotel is tucked away on a little street between the Avenue Hoche and the Avenue Friedland, and although you will have to walk a little to jump on the city's public transport networks (bus, metro and RER regional express train) at least you can enjoy peaceful surroundings here.

    Accommodation 8.84 /10

The hotel's 135 guest rooms come in 5 categories, namely Classic, Superior, Luxury, Junior Suite and Suite (prestige and duplex), all of which are really very well-equipped. In addition to the amenities you would expect of a 4* hotel, including individual air-conditioning, a mini-bar, a flat-screen television, a hair-dryer, bathrobes and a safe, you will also find Hermes hospitality products, a desk set (including paperclips, scissors, stapler, etc.), a mini-stereo with CD-player, a sewing kit, an umbrella, a shoe kit (polish, shoehorn, brush, etc.) and a complimentary bottle of water every day. Having said that, the 'pièce de résistance' has to be the ultra-comfortable MyBed bed, the secret of which lies quite simply in a rather soft mattress cover which makes you feel like you're sleeping on a cloud. You will also get to select your favourite type of cushion, and a turn-down service is provided every evening, with a little soft toy left on the bed. In a nutshell, then, despite the rather traditional, low-key and rather uninspiring decor, the rooms are very comfortable and make up for their flaws in the level of comfort provided. Accommodation tip Beware of the Classic rooms, which are really only fit for one person. There is also no Hi-Fi system in these rooms.

    Overview 7.35 /10

As soon as you enter the lobby, which features a great deal of marble and gilding, you'll immediately find yourself wrapped up in the traditional and luxurious ambience of the place. The welcome is rather friendly and efficient, whilst the quality of the service is worth a particular mention, not least because of the attention to detail for every holiday or festival, such as the annual Easter egg hunt and the floral sweets provided in the rooms to celebrate the arrival of spring. Families are also given a baby kit (which is also suitable for children depending on their age) consisting of nappies, a bib, a bottle and a toy. On the downside, there are no sporting facilities (and no hammam or sauna) at the hotel, but the Wi-Fi and ADSL Internet connections can be used for free.

    Food and drink 7.80 /10

The hotel bar is very busy throughout the day and is popular among both hotel guests and locals, who enjoy the plush surroundings it offers. Choose from various types of cocktail, from Signature cocktails (unique to Sofitel) to personalised creations named after some of the hotel's best customers, served with tapas, although afternoon tea, consisting of a selection of homemade pastries, is also served in the bar from 3:30pm to 6:30pm. The restaurant, for its part, is named after the hotel's 1st owner and former chef, Clovis, although nowadays you'll find chef Thomas Bruno at the helm, serving up a variety of gourmet dishes based on French culinary traditions recreated in his own particular style. The Menu du Marché set menu, which includes a starter, main course and dessert, for example, varies from one day to the next. The decor here is rather contemporary and features subtle lines and low-key colours, and if you like your privacy, you'll be pleased to know that the restaurant is spacious and the tables well spaced-out. Do remember, though, that the restaurant is only open from Monday to Friday.

    To know

The hotel boasts no fewer than six lounges for its business clientele, including the very originally-decorated Beaujon, which was entirely designed by Stella Cadente. You'll also find a selection of sculptures and various artists' work on the tables in the bar and restaurant, as well as a temporary photograph exhibition.

Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
