This four-star hotel near the Place de la Concorde and the city's embassies is in an ideal spot for those wishing to explore Paris on foot. In fact, you need go no further than the end of the street if you wish to visit the Louvre, the Jardin des Tuileries or even Place de la Madeleine, on the opposite side of the street. In comparison with other Parisian hotels, the Sofitel Faubourg appealed to us because of the high-quality facilities it offers and the fact that the welcome you'll receive here is worthy of a hotel of a much higher standing. The Faubourg is a trendy place which often plays host to meetings and luncheons held by prestigious brands that have their headquarters on the same street. This being the case, you'll find young executives and tourists rubbing shoulders, giving the hotel a truly cosmopolitan feel.

    Location 7.25 /10

The hotel is located near the Place de la Concorde and the city's embassies, in an ideal spot for those wishing to explore Paris on foot.

    Accommodation 8.70 /10

The guest rooms are just as charming as the rest of the establishment and are modern but with a historic feel, the decor a subtle combination of contemporary furniture and classical style. A personal touch is provided by the Degas lithographs and historical paintings of Paris. The floors are carpeted and the light wooden furniture is upholstered in a fabric designed especially for the hotel. When it comes to technology, you'll want for nothing here, with a plasma-screen television, Wi-Fi in all rooms and the option of having a fax machine or stereo installed as well. The large, white marble bathrooms are superb and come with a large mirror, a bathtub, a hair-dryer, a selection of hospitality products by French brand Hermès and comfortable bathrobes. It really is difficult to think of anywhere more perfect!

    Overview 8.70 /10

The hotel's Bar 30 is open from 9:00am and features 30s-style decor. This is a very sophisticated place, great for warming yourself up in front of the fireplace whilst enjoying a nice cup of tea or a cocktail with a few nibbles. Live piano music composed and performed by a professional pianist can also be enjoyed here from 9:00pm onwards. This unique serene and luxurious area attracts many a figure from the fashion world, with both models and designers regularly meeting here. The spa area, meanwhile, is a great place to relax or even try out the latest generation gym equipment should you feel like doing a bit of exercise. The gym itself is well-organised and tastefully decorated to create something of a travel-related ambience. The bookshelves, meanwhile, are adorned with objects from all over the world, a small detail which shows that every last nook and cranny has been carefully designed, with your comfort in mind. After all that effort in the gym, why not enjoy a session in the sauna or hammam, and if you're still not fully relaxed after that, you might like to try some of the various other services available. The Sofitel Faubourg strives to adapt to the needs of its most demanding guests and the spa is no exception. The massage rooms, for example, are truly amazing, and with soft music, a relaxing fragrance atomiser and cosmetic products from only the major brands, you're not likely to be disappointed if you give it a try. A special morning package is available whereby a private instructor will guide you through a 30-minute exercise session before you enjoy a relaxing massage and a comprehensive healthy breakfast. What better way to start the day stress-free! (Bear in mind that this service is not included in the price of the room and incurs an additional charge of around £140). The massage area is rather like a cocoon - once you're inside you feel completely at ease and relaxed. As well as the hammam there is also a sensory shower with various lights and aromas.

    Food and drink 8.70 /10

The Le Café Faubourg restaurant provides intimate surroundings and features ochre-coloured decor, not to mention luxurious crockery, antique paintings and subdued lighting making for a unique and personalised setting. Chef Jérôme Videau prepares sophisticated cuisine showcasing the flavours of south-west France and the restaurant is a big favourite with local businessmen hosting business lunches. The hotel's flower-decked courtyard, meanwhile, is a special place where you can sit and enjoy the Parisian summer.

Its proximity to la Concorde and les Tuileries is a major asset and the hotel is a good starting point to enjoy a beautiful stroll through the gardens that will take you to the nicest monuments in Paris. The Richepanse has a lot of character as it is one of the rare Art Déco hotels of the capital. It is worth your while to spend some time examining the details of the rooms' interior decor.

It has a nice mix of natural materials throughout and cosy public spaces featuring locally purchased artwork. The 24 rooms are of Parisian size (read small) but they are well equipped and nicely-appointed. With complimentary breakfast and wifi and a helpful, friendly staff, this hotel is recommended rather for couples visiting Paris for the weekend rather than for businesspeople or those on extended stays.

In a part of Paris bristling with Palaces and some of the most grandiose and reputed hotels in the world, the Hôtel Cambon is a bit of an exception. It is a small hotel, more intimate and personal than its prestigious neighbours on Place Vendôme, Place de la Concorde and rue de Rivoli. The originality of the artistic decor that features throughout is a winner, with contemporary and more classic paintings hung on all the walls and in all the rooms.

Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
