The Villa Opéra Drouot is certainly not the smartest of the group's hotels, but its extremely retro decor is very personalised, with colourful fabrics, velvet, painted wooden furniture and a vaulted cellar making for rather busy surroundings which are anything but minimal and a far cry from the latest trends. Guests come here for the lively surrounding area and to lose track of time for a few nights in a rather precious, old world atmosphere.

    Location 9.95 /10

The Villa Opéra Drouot enjoys a prime location at the heart of Paris' business district, next to the Drouot auction house and close to the Grands Magasins (department stores) district, with the Grands Boulevards area, the perfect portrayal of Paris by night with its many theatres bars, restaurants and clubs, just a stone's throw away. Despite the constant and typical liveliness of this area, it remains a safe and multi-cultural environment. Nestled in the Jewish quarter, it is also close to many restaurants. The closest metro stations are Grands Boulevards and Cadet.

    Accommodation 7.20 /10

The modestly-sized Villa Opéra Drouot has thirty or so guest rooms, a combination of Standard, Deluxe, Junior Suites and even three duplex rooms on the top floor, and extends a personalised welcome to its guests. The ambience in the rooms is definitely very retro, with red fabric on the walls, velvet-covered headboards and more notably still the hand-painted black and gold wooden furniture featuring musical instruments. Indeed, the wardrobes, desks and dressing tables in all of the rooms feature harps and trumpets, and despite the ornate furniture the surroundings are nevertheless elegant and, above all, trendy. For a little variety, the 1st and 2nd floors break from the standard decor concept found in the other rooms, with off-white silky fabrics replacing the reds for a much lighter effect and, where some are concerned, less oppressive surroundings. All rooms have a mini-bar and a television offering a wide variety of channels.

    Overview 6.45 /10

The less than modern decor at the very stylish Opéra Drouot creates a quaint atmosphere, and one which is only enhanced by the heavy colours of the Belle Epoque style. Virtually all of the walls are covered in vibrant red striped fabric, with the communal areas supported by imitation-marble pillars - a far cry from the discreet decor you would expect of a modern establishment, though the intense colour does make for very warm surroundings. The breakfast room is tucked away in a hollow on the basement level, laid out in the warm setting of an ancient triple-arch stone vault. Free Wi-Fi is only available in the reception area. There is also a small bar area just beyond the reception desk, with a round bench seat in the lounge to the rear of the hall providing an inviting spot to sit and take the weight off your feet for a while.

    To know

The Villa Opéra Drouot is a member of the "Les Hôtels de Paris" Group, which have the defining feature of all being decorated entirely differently - great news, as it avoids the trap of boringly standardised rooms.

This little 25-room hotel is located in the 'Grands Boulevards' district, a part of Paris with a really local feel. The majority of its guests are American and Spanish tourists, which is why the receptionists generally offer services tailored for guests who are here to explore the capital.

The Bristol is one of the few luxury hotels in Paris that belongs to a European family (German) rather than one of the great families of Asia or the United Arab Emirates. Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. Its gourmet restaurant attracts a demanding clientele that is fond of excellent cuisine.

The George V is one of the most prestigious Parisian palaces in the city. You barely have to cross the threshold before realising you are entering a hotel in which luxury, perfection and indulgence are the name of the game. Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
