    Location 8.73 /10

Hotel Washington Opera is located at No. 50 Rue de Richelieu, from the end of which the Place du Carrousel can be seen, the roundabout that separates the Jardins des Tuileries from the Palais Royal, the building that houses the Louvre Museum. Located half-way between the capital's two main theatres - the Comédie Française and Opéra Garnier, ideal locations for lovers of melodramas - the Washington Opera is located in the centre of chic everyday Parisian life, in an area full of upmarket restaurants. More distant attractions can be reached by metro from the two nearest stations, both at an equal distance from the hotel: Palais Royal - Musée du Louvre (lines 1 and 7) and Pyramides (lines 7 and 14). Many bus routes also pass through this neighbourhood, one of the busiest in the city. A handy shuttle bus from Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport stops at Opéra metro station and the hotel is only a 5 minute walk from there. If you arrive in Orly, the shuttle stops at the Invalides station, which is a bit of a distance from the hotel. You can also get to the hotel on the RER C line, which stops at the Invalides station, or line B from Antony, which stops at Les Halles, both of which are also quite far away.

    Accommodation 7.20 /10

Even the hotel corridors hint at the sense of class that continues into the rooms. There are a total of 6 stories with 36 guest rooms. The size of the rooms - rather small in general - vary by category: standard, superior, deluxe, and junior suite. The colours, light blue, dark blue, and shades of red, provide a classic and elegant style throughout the hotel and give everything a feeling of freshness. The atmosphere of a noble residence that no doubt was omnipresent at the time when it belonged to Madame de Pompadour, mistress and confidante of Louis XV, has been vaguely recreated in the hotel, especially in the rooms with four-poster beds. The furniture is white, as are all the wooden fixtures (doors, panelling and windows), and their brightness stands out against the striped wallpaper in shades of blue or red, depending on the type of room chosen. These subtle contrasts are also found in the bedspreads, armchairs, and curtains. The rooms, which are both pleasant to look at and to stay in despite their limited size, all face the street. Some offer views of the Palais Royal Theatre, which sparkles with its golden mosaics and gilded masks and all of them have a minibar, television, and a telephone. The bathrooms, with their green marble contours and hospitality products, are new and very clean.

    Overview 8.20 /10

When you walk in through the white sliding doors of the Washington Opera, you enter into a world of classic shades, where the light tones of the decorative objects invite you to sit down and rest. The large lobby is separated from the lounge by a series of pillars, half of which are white and the other half yellow, the same pale colours that can be found on the walls, sofa, lamps, and even the white orchids on the mantelpiece. Natural light is provided by a large window overlooking the street. The lounge is a perfect place to spend a few moments reading the newspaper. The bar is located in the basement and is also used as a breakfast room in the mornings. The style is absolutely classic but all of the materials are new and modern, as the hotel was completely renovated 3 years ago (we visited the hotel in spring 2009).

    Food and drink

Hotel Washington Opera does not have a restaurant but room service is available from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. As mentioned, the breakfast room is located in the basement, as in most Parisian hotels constantly looking for space, but weak natural light is provided through windows along the top of the walls, just at street level. The yellow walls are decorated with black and white photos of Paris, and couches and chairs with round forms liven up the dark wooden floor. A continental breakfast buffet with juices and fresh fruit is served between 7:00am and 11:00am, and there is also room service available for those who want it.

    To know

The Hotel Washington Opera was once the residence of Madame de Pompadour, an opera and theatre-lover and mistress of Louis XV.

Stylish, classy and refined, the Bristol holds great importance in the quality and authenticity of its features and materials. The George V is one of the most prestigious Parisian palaces in the city. You barely have to cross the threshold before realising you are entering a hotel in which luxury, perfection and indulgence are the name of the game. Boasting rooms fit for a princess, impressive lounges and a Michelin-starred restaurant, the George V ticks all the boxes when it comes to satisfying even the most demanding of guests. The interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon oversaw the complete refurbishment of the building in 1997, and has since then continued to make improvements to the decor in the 18th Century style.

The latest Parisian luxury hotel, the Shangri-La will seduce a demanding clientele that will know how to appreciate the richly ornate Empire style of this particular hotel. Nothing more can be said about the lengths taken to find the materials, designs, and other accessories that contribute to recreating the atmosphere of the 19th century, while at the same time offering the comfort and modernity of the 21st century. This extremely shiny and ornate Empire style may scare away some potential guests, however, it is still a real privilege to stay in this residence previously owned by a prince, the great nephew of Napoleon.

Inaugurated on 28 February 2012, the W Paris - Opera has finally opened in the City of Light. The Starwood brand linked to fashion and trends thus has its own prestigious establishment in Paris.
Nestled in a 19th century building, the hotel is in a great location. Design and modernity, with a conceptual touch, all come together here. Its designer is in the best position to explain why, since we're not sure it's really clear otherwise, but the W Paris-Opera is centred around the theme The Spark. The establishment thus defines itself as a "spark", creating a fictitious connection between the very first W hotel in New York and its newest sibling in Paris.

At the heart of the Opera district, the W can already rely on its guests who are fans of the brand and hopes that word of mouth will make it the place to be in the area; not just for its rooms but for its restaurant and bar as well.
